Johnny Manziel: Swan Won't Return His Calls

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
So Manziel went from a horrible day in training camp to completing all but one of his passes.

At this rate by the start of the season he will be completing more passes than he attempts.

Johnny Football? No, Johnny HOF.

11:26am: Johnny time (Numbers – 3/3)

  • Play #1 – Completion to WR Terrelle Pryor
  • Play #2 – Completion to WR Darius Jennings
  • Play #3 – Completion to WR Terrelle Pryor

But has Manziel outplayed past performances of Mr. July, Colt McCoy? There should be a small copper statue in the Barea facility of Colt running no pads drills.

I like Jones for a team with an established QB situation.

For a team like Cleveland, likely playing early, he's no match for that.
Jones will probably have a full year to show how much he has progressed. Should have a much better idea of how much more development he needs by mid season. Coming out last draft could have really hampered his growth.

Big fan of Carson Wentz, Connor Cook, Jared Goff, Hackenburg, Paxton Lynch.

Patrick Towels at Kentucky is supposedly rising, I've never punished myself by watching a UK football game though.

Hack needs to have a strong comeback year. Didn't adjust well to Bill O'Brien leaving. Made some really shitty decisions last year. With that said obviously has all of the tools, size and played with a Penn State team still snake-bitten by depth, of course.

Going from BOB to James Franklin will do that to you. Franklin is a fraud.....

Seems like Manziel had a solid week of camp by all accounts.

We'll see. Good recruiter. Curious how it works out. I like JF.

Also, OB would kick your ass if you called him BOB! Hates it. God I love that guy. Best Penn State HC of all time. :chuckle:

There have been a lot of positive things I've both seen and heard about Johnny. That being said, it's only camp. Let's see how he does when the real bullets fly in pre season games.

It does look like he has taken a substantial jump in one off season to maybe a good backup. So that's encouraging.

Just 3 more seasons at this pace and he'll make an average QB on whatever team decides to take a chance on him.

I know you are making a joke, but in 3 years, Johnny would be what, 25?

I don't think the Browns will be done with him any time soon if he really has made improvement.

Manziel simply wasn't mature enough to handle being an NFL player let alone a starting QB. By all accounts, he's taking things seriously now and putting the time in. Good for him. That was a major concern I had with him all along and so far this off season it seems like he's trying to improve there. That's a good step in the right direction and I hope it continues.

His performance on the field has been up and down but on the whole it seems like it's been mostly down. He basically blew off his rookie year and essentially he's starting over again so this is his true rookie season. You have to expect a lot of bad and some good from rookies, hopefully as the season goes on he builds off the good and shows improvements.

I still have concerns about his size and ability. He's simply not big enough and his other talents just do not outweigh the lack of physical tools the way Russell Wilson's do. I've said this before, hopefully I'm wrong, I want to be wrong, but I just don't see Manziel being a viable NFL QB in this league. His ceiling IMO is Jeff Garcia, SF years. If he reaches that I'd be overjoyed. However, that's the best case scenario IMO. I don't think he reaches nearly close to that level.

His OL was also one of the worst. Fuckin' LB's & DE's were just "Num num numm'n'n'n" on him all day.

Hopefully this year they can protect him better with another year behind their belts and with a couple transfers.

Just hopefully not when they come here b/c I'm going to that game :)
