Johnny Manziel: Swan Won't Return His Calls

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
His OL was also one of the worst. Fuckin' LB's & DE's were just "Num num numm'n'n'n" on him all day.

Hopefully this year they can protect him better with another year behind their belts and with a couple transfers.

Just hopefully not when they come here b/c I'm going to that game :)
I was at the PSU game last time they came to Columbus. He/they probably can't do much worse than they did that night.

I believe Thomas also went out of his way to say that McCown is the #1 and its really not a debate.

Meaning what?

given the propensity of people to quote Joe thomas and his thoughts on manziel for the last season . I think just Joe Thomas saying that He believes Manziel is ready to start in the NFL is quite significant.

your reply really doesnt downplay the statement out all. even though you added the "went out of his way"

what did that entail anyways? did he climb a roof or chase the reporter across the field to add in that last part? can he not support his starting quarterback and back up quarterback at the same time?

There was several time that the starting line was not open to utilizing a manziel package and definately were very vocal about him being placed as starter even though it was quite apparent Hoyer was done.

once again .. Joe thomas voaclain support for manziel to such a level very significant.

Joe Thomas reaffirming his confidence in Josh. not so much.

It's interesting that Joe Thomas' support is significant now, given how insignificant you believed it was when he called him out last years.

Thanks for ignoring context.
the significance isnt in the value of his opinion but that he has changed it.
the level of significance was in realtion to the reply to the article.
If you think Joe Thomas stating he supports josh as the starting quarterback negates him saying that he thinks Manziel is ready to be a starting NFL quarterback . Then just say so.

You're assuming that I put any value into what Thomas says at all.

He's not making those decisions, he's also not in the QB room.

Nice that he's echoed what we've been hearing about Manziels new and improved "dedication."

But it's wholly insignificant at the end of the day.

actually I assumed you were implying i was a hypocrite and what your actual value of what Joe Thomas was saying wasnt even a factor.
However, Joe Thomas has been Manziels most voval public critic of Manziel since he was drafted. Thomas saying something positive toward Manziel indicates he is seeing something that he wasnt seeing before..

As A QB Manziel is expected to Lead. Joe Thomas has indicated he is willing to follow something he implied contantly wasnt the case before.

It was Thomas who said Manziel did not have the trust of the locker room and it would take alot to gain that trust.

so confirmation from Joe thomas that Manziel has so far earned that trust back. well its a positive
.
Johnny is establishing himself as a leader whereas last season he was distant and aloof according to reports. This is an area of improvement and while you may not of used Joe Thomas comments to criticize Manziel others have.

Joe's support is huge. JT is a no bs type of guy, and it shows that Manziel's attitude has truly changed and not just changed for the media.

I am not ready to call Manziel a viable NFL qb yet, but atleast Johnny Football has been put to rest and we can go and see what we have in our 2nd year backup at sometime during the year.

Liked what I saw fro Manziel last night. No glaring issues and made some nice plays. He seems to have carried over the good camp he's had to the actual game. Good to see.

He was definitely more safe, which was encouraging.

I would like to see him take a few more chances in the next few pre-season game, go down field a little more, but I'm ok with how he played yesterday. At the very least, he looked like he could manage a game well.

Seemed to actually be reading the defense vs. last year's 'well, i can probably run out of this" mind-set. Ball looked to get out quicker.

Everyone always was worried his speed wouldn't cut it in the NFL but i must admit, his footwork is great when he is scrambling. He is truly a natural out there when plays break down, as far as buying time....it's just a matter of him being able to remember the play and routes when the play breaks down. Hopefully, that will come with repetition and hard work. He can't afford to get hit much. He's just a wittle guy.

I agree with both of you. I would like to see him open it up some more as well and he did have a smart throw away. The scramble was nice and I recall him making a great read (LB blitzed, JF hit the guy left open as a result. Passes were on target from what I remember. Pettine even mentioned a 3rd down where communication went out, so Johnny called his own play and converted.

Still a ways to go, but I'm liking the improvement I'm seeing/hearing about.
