Johnny Manziel: Swan Won't Return His Calls

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Joe Lull blocked me on Twitter after I told him to "Go drink some more and "slip on ice"". He was becoming unbearable.

Any takers on which RCF member called in?

embarrasing, almost as bad as this guy blubbering in front of congress

It's kinda scary how much of a problem he must really have. Going to a bar is no big deal.

Being a known alcoholic, being given instructions to not show up on the 'party scene' after given the dream of a lifetime "being named a starter in the NFL", and he's willing to throw that away.

Even if he were good, and he's not, that's about all you need to know about his future in this league.

So sick of seeing the following excuses:

A) "Well, the media and social media need to leave him alone and let him live."

-These guys know the kind of world we live in today, with the media magnifying everything and social media being bigger than ever.

-Johnny called the media onto him when he created "johnny football". He's also the one who "somehow" finds his way staring into a cell phone video practically every time.

B) "He didn't do anything illegal"

-True, but it's not about that. He was told, publicly and privately, that he needed to stop being a distraction & to stay away from the party scene.

-He was just named the starting QB of an NFL team. It's bad enough he was doing stupid shit as the backup, but as the starter? Unacceptable.

-WTF was even the point of rehab then? He has publicly, and I'm sure privately as well, stated that he would stop being a distraction and causing a scene.

C) "Josh Gordon is in a similar situation, but they didn't bench him.."

-No, he's not. The Browns didn't bench him because the NFL did it for them. Apples and oranges here.

-That's an NFL issue vs a team issue, which is what the Johnny situation is.

D) "So guys can beat their women, but can't drink at a club?!?"

-That lies on the NFL and those other players' respective teams, NOT the Browns. Can't blame the Browns if the NFL & the Cowboys are stupid and don't want to take action against Greg Hardy.

E) "So its fun when Gronk does it, but unacceptable when Johnny does?"

-Gronk isn't the starting QB.

-Gronk is one of the best players in the game and has put in the work ethic. Johnny has been known not to and hasn't proven anything.

-It doesn't effect Gronk's play, he always produces, has had no public run-ins with the law, and hasn't been caught doing drugs.

Bottom line: there is NO excuse. Period. He still doesn't get it and probably never will.

Should just let me start the rest of the season, I'll only charge $100 every punt/fumble and secure that #1.

This, I also hate the Gronk comparisons. No one is saying you can't have fun on your own time.

Gronk has fun on his own time, and NEVER allows it to interfere with his work. He shows up, works hard, studies hard, and it shows on the field.

He's one of the best players in football. Johnny is not even remotely in that discussion.

Gronk isn't a known alcoholic, with possibly a drug problem too.

I don't get these comparisons at all.

Not to mention, being a starting QB always carries more responsibility. He's willing to accept none. I have no idea why people think this guy should be given any chance.

He's been given MANY, and he's blown all of them.

If you're a Browns fan how the hell can you be happy about this? We could of used these next 6 games as a real evaluation period but instead we're gonna piss it away by watching a 36 year old QB play in meaningless games.

Here's the tough truth: nothing that we see Johnny do in those 6 games should change the final verdict on him: Johnny is a limited QB.

He admittedly can't see over our linemen. He has a very slight build and plays in a way that leads to tons of turnovers, gets him hit and will one day get him majorly hurt.

His work ethic stinks. He's the kind of guy who does just enough to get by. His increased effort this year is just him bumping it up to "satisfactory". Read Peter King's article on Palmer. Can you EVER see Johnny putting in that kind of work?

Johnny had back-to-back opportunities to put in extra work (TNF-Sun and the BYE) to show that he's serious about starting. He chose to go to Texas and get drunk and then go to Texas and get drunk.

Not only is he physically limited with a subpar work ethic, he's also a huge off-field embarrassment.

At least now we don't have to worry about Johnny giving our front office doubts about taking a QB #1. Even if Johnny had short-term success in those 6 games, he's still setting himself up to be a long-term disaster... and he couldn't care less.

Did he really admit he can't see over the linemen? That's pretty funny if so..

That's my favorite part of it all. 4 days later!

And this time, the gap between Johnny telling the media and Pettine he wouldn't embarrass the team on Nov 17th and going to the club in Texas was 2 whole days! Such restraint!

The guy defines lip service. His word is absolutely meaningless yet we're supposed to trust him enough to give him the keys to the team. Yeah, ok...
