JR Smith

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I wasn't mad about his offense. Sure he took 2-3 questionable shots but it was his defense, which he can control that was awful. Towards the end there I would have subbed J.R for Shump. At the time Shump was 2-4 on threes and playing great defense. J.R honestly didn't deserve all those minutes over him.

He didn't have a bad game. He hit some big shots when we needed them. That corner three he hit helped spark our largest run of the game.

J.R.'s a shooter. Shooters can be on and off. It's normal for them to hit 8 straight threes. It's also normal for them to miss 8 straight threes. Curry and Thompson couldn't hit the broadside of a barn for much of the game from three. Unfortunately, Curry and Thompson had leeway with how many weapons/bodies they had. We didn't. And J.R. knew this. When he felt cold, he was trying to attack the basket or move off-ball to get more comfortable looks.

So you only picked the part where I said he had a bad game and it happens. The rest of my post was praise and how I think he steps it up. I disagree with your statement that he didn't have a bad game....He could not hit any shots in the 2nd half and didn't play up to his capability on defense. With that said, I think he will be fine (like I said in the other post) and step his game up even more without Kyrie.

Why the hell would you turn on JR? Look what this dude has done for us... He's completely changed his attitude and has become a team player, he moves the ball and he's been trying on defense and for the most part has actually been a respectable defender. Oh, and he's been super clutch for us and averaged 18 points and 10 rebs in the ECF. Shooters get cold, it's what happens, let's just hope he's not starting a cold stretch for the finals...

I hope the quality of GSW defenders was not the issue in the second half.
He was probably due for a game like that. I get a feeling with JR that he is a bit like a gambler who keeps playing on a losing streak. He is trying to make up for missed shots with more attempts. That was the first time we saw bad shots and misses from him. I also hope it is one game. But I'm just concerned that after he hit 3 early Kerr told his guys to stick to him and he couldn't get it going against the length and athleticism they got. I will take JR delusional grade confidence over anyone's though.the man doesn't give a fuck and we just need to hope that the misses that among other things cost us game 1 will
be nasty daggers in game 2

He had open looks late in regulation, and in OT. He just missed them. Badly.

Totally agree. I honestly thought maybe maybe Shump was injured or something because I was so baffled that JR was playing over him. Doesn't appear to have been the case, just really bizarre rotations and slow substitutions in OT.

Yeah. I couldn't understand that choice by Blatt. Granted Shump wasn't being aggressive so perhaps that's why but Shump will never turn down an open 3. I honestly had more confidence in him than in J.R that night.

The team overall was not good offensively in game 1, and that was with Kyrie for most of it. We need JR now more than ever (which is why I imagine he was out there in OT, the offense was sputtering leading into it). He's a lot more important to this series than Shumpert (who is still very important in his own right). Shumpert at the moment is probably an average stand still three point shooter and doesn't space the floor as much as Smith, as he's obviously not as big a threat from the outside.

A lineup with Delly/Shumpert/Tristan/Mozgov gives LeBron absolutely no room to operate. Yes, the lineup is better defensively, and you need defense out there against the Warriors, but you need at least a little offense out there or you have no shot.. I imagine Delly/Shump/JR will get some minutes together anyway, and a JR/Shump combo without Delly will get a lot of burn too, so it's moot now.

Five games to convince me (not that it matters) that he's worth keeping around.

For every 8 three pointer game he has, he's getting suspended or doing whatever the fuck he was doing tonight. We didn't even need him to contribute on offense, he just needed to not be kneecapping the team down the stretch over and over and over again and he couldn't manage it.

Hopefully JR has a huge rebound game since the next 2 games will be in Cleveland and not the Bay Area

J.R. made a lot of really bad fouls and really put us in a bad position and almost cost us the game.

But we won. The beautiful thing about basketball and about J.R. Smith is that when we suit up for game 3, he has every opportunity to redeem himself with a big game offensive and defensively, and he also has the ability to as well. Don't be surprised to see him bounce back at home and lay some pipe on Klay.

Re-watch. The Curry "reach" call was fucking garbage and the one he fouled out on he was just doing his job.

I love JR and I'm a little biased towards him, but I'm telling you. Re-watch.

The refs did their absolute best to hand that game to the Warriors AGAIN and used JR for a lot of it.

Horse-shit. It is as much a miracle that they won that game as it is that they are in the finals after all this shit.

These refs should be on the fucking street tomorrow.

You're just always so fucking positive, and I love it. And I picture it in Dirk's voice, so it's even better.

Concerning JR, his fouls tonight could've cost us the game and maybe even the championship if we keep on playing like this--at a level that matches, but doesn't necessarily outdo the warrior's level of play. Long story short, we have little room for error, and JR needs to realize that and play smart until it hurts.

He fucked us tonight, there's just no way around it. Stupid fucking play after stupid fucking play.

But, we do need him. He needs to pull his head out of his ass, quickly.

You are right. The reach wasn't a foul, but it was still a stupid play nonetheless.

As for his final foul that's something that is called all the time. LeBron got that call earlier. J.R. knows it's called and he just couldn't help himself.

We won! Get over it!
We need to support him, Because we know how good he can get when confident...
He single handedly destroyed the Bulls for us! So he made some mistakes?! Who doesn't?!
even the great LBJ makes them...
