JR Smith

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
It's funny that this thread became Salty Spittoon in the eve of a great win.

I'm OK with him playing like this as long as we're winning. Just strikes me at some point he's going to get hot. They key is that when he's not, that he defers and doesn't take bad shots. Shoot in rhythm and in a good spot and you still miss... well, not much you can do about that. Just don't take bad ones.

He just wasn't getting the damn ball later in the game. Nobody was.

I know people keep making this argument that milking the clock is great and prevents GS from getting out on the break. I really get that.

But at the same time, Golden State was making that run when the Cavs were in clock milk mode because the Cavs couldn't score.

Instead of bogging down and milking the clock, why not move the ball around? Make the extra pass. If you make 3-4 passes on the perimeter with Bron, Shump, Delly, JR or Jones on the floor there's going to be a three pointer at some point.

You're not maximizing JR if you're never giving him any catch and shoot attempts.
The isolation/milking the clock plays have been great all series, except when LeBron holds the ball beyond the perimeter for 20 seconds. Those possessions are horrible. But when he's isolating in the post, assessing his options and backing down to the basket, it has been very successful. After all, that has been our entire offense this series.

He's due.

He's playing hard. Wasn't a liability last night like Sunday.
He just needs to keep grinding like everyone else.

You have to give yourself 10-12 seconds to really get a good set going. I hate the fact that they go to that dribble until there's 5 seconds left offense.

While I'd like us to get into our offense a little quicker we must control the pace. We saw what happened when LeBron sat for about a minute or two. Completely changed the game. Starting the offense late has done more good than bad.

Moz had his night, Delly had his night, and either J.R or Shump will have theirs soon.

I love how J.R started the game last night, he looked to create offense the second he entered the game. And not idiotic offense, he looked to get his teammates involved and he successfully did so. Late in games though, J.R tries too hard to create a crazy three point shot, and it fails miserably. Not only does it create a turnover or just an awful offensive possession, but it forces Blatt to take him out. I know we all want a night where J.R hits a bunch of crazy threes, but what I really want from him is to play smart basketball an entire game. Play hard, rebound, don't commit stupid fouls, and recognize when its a good time to create your own offense. I think that is more valuable for the Cavs at this point then J.R channeling his inner Curry.

We need JR and Shump to give us a little more on O tomorrow esp. JR. JR seems to make his first 2 or 3 shots, then put up a couple of bad ones, and then he's ghost after that. We need his scoring.
