JR Smith

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think the Cavs were wanting to go only one more year with JR, spinning back punches or not. He kind of had an MO coming in here. Good luck to the team finding out how to keep him happy while not pissing away their negotiating advantage. He just watched every teammate get a raise. He just watched his minutes get bitten into by both Williams and a probable larger role for the longtermed Shumpert. JR has proven repeatedly in the past that when he isn't happy he becomes disruptive. Let's see if winning will soothe over taking less money, coming back one a one year deal, and a lesser (if only slightly) role.

I remember watching many games last year where I was extremely happy to have JR playing for the Cavs. He bought in and meshed with the other players. He bonded with lebron and respected Blatt. His shot, when on, uniquely energized the team. He demoralized Atlanta in Game 1 on the road and helped set the tone for the ECF.

Is he a knucklehead occasionally? Sure. But the risk/reward tips generously in our favor, imo... Cavs need him back. #allin, #signthepipe

I felt the same way. What ultimately changed my opinion of JR was watching how sloppy his play was in June. JR was overwhelmed by that level of competition in the finals and started committing some seriously asshole lazy fouls.

Frank, do you want him back, and if so at what cost?

He is officially back...he was a pleasant surprise, wish he would have showed up more in the finals though. Love the guy but he probably got horrible offers that made ANY Cavs offer look generous.

  • teamswish Happy to say that I am returning to the Cavs! It’s been a long ride this summer but I can say for sure, well worth the wait. When I opted out of my contract, I wanted to understand the landscape of the NBA and where I fit best. The Cavaliers had things they needed to do in order to piece together a championship caliber roster. I ended up deciding that instead of potentially securing a larger deal elsewhere, I wanted to rejoin an incredible organization in pursuit of the ultimate goal, an NBA championship. Thank you to the Cavaliers for making this happen. Can’t wait to get started! #TheLand

Not looking good for TT being the last holdout when you consider the players who've already signed.

I need contract details! But that's awesome. Glad to have him back.

JR signed a 5 year 94 million dollar contract.

TT's holdout continues because his peer got what he wanted.

Read on Twitter that he supposedly has a no trade clause. That's a pretty good deal. He basically got off with a slap on the wrist from his decision to opt out of his 6.4 mil deal. I'm cool with him coming back.

If we can't trade JR and don't want to trade the big 3 and we sign TT to an untradeable contract, it might be hard to make many trades, hehe.
