JR Smith

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Read on Twitter that he supposedly has a no trade clause. That's a pretty good deal. He basically got off with a slap on the wrist from his decision to opt out of his 6.4 mil deal. I'm cool with him coming back.

If we can't trade JR and don't want to trade the big 3 and we sign TT to an untradeable contract, it might be hard to make many trades, hehe.

So he loses about 600K after tax, but gets that second year and no-trade. Seems fair.

Saves us a ton of money in taxes too

Both sides got a good deal here. JR gets a NTC and more guaranteed money while the Cavs avoid a long-term deal while retaining a valuable piece.

Great deal obviously. I would be pretty upset with my agent if i was JR (assuming it was him that convinced him to opt out). He could have just picked up his option for one year and been in the same position. I'm really happy with the outcome though; hopefully he isn't salty at all about the haircut.

About time Pipes. We're just waiting out on the last man.

More important than any tax savings, J.R. has every incentive to be a model citizen and perform well because he has another opportunity to become a free agent next off-season where the salary cap is going to explode. While he wasn't able to cash in this year, if he turns in a really good season, he could set himself up to nearly double his salary next season. I expect big things from J.R. this year. I think we see career high's from beyond the arc and I also think we see his best defensive season of his career. Super excited.

THIS. IS. AWESOME.

so our 1-3 is pretty damn solid and confirmed for next season. Excitement continues.

* Now sign TT and SK and we're pretty much set, I think

* Rich Paul and TT may be losing leverage by the second with people like Valanciunas and Green signing their deals

* Glad JR is on board

I don't think he can have a no-trade clause. You have to be a minimum number of years with a team before you can have that.
