I'd like to see him come back
If not, throw some cash at Arron Afflalo
I don't see him taking the mini mid level so that won't be an option.I'd like to see him come back

Aka waiting to see what Love doesHaven't watched the interview with Griffin for context, but here's Haynes quote from him on it.

That's an interesting non-committal by Griffin. I think that's playing it smart.
If JR had continued his second-half success through the playoffs, he might have been in line for a significant payday. But as recently as the mid-point of this season, he was viewed as a cancer/problem-child, that you couldn't give away at his current contract. He had the strong regular season, but then faded in the post season. And that fading away came with a loss of temper that resulted in a two-game suspension, then the weird Rihanna stuff, that weird scooter-thingy, and basically disappearing in the Finals. I could very easily see other teams thinking "yeah, that's the JR we always knew was in there", and "maybe it worked for the Cavs for a bit but I don't want to spend assets to bring that time-bomb in here", etc..
I think the demand for JR is going to be less than he thinks, and I don't think Griffin is inclined to overpay. I think he'll let JR find out what his market value is, and then resign him for a reasonable deal of reasonable length. JR was happy here, and the Cavs should take advantage of that in terms of negotiating.

Doesn't this apply to JR now that he is a UFA?Cavs don't have cap space.
