Kareem Hunt: One Pissed Off Runner!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Man, gotta say, i thought there would be way more excitement in here. There's no doubt what he did was wrong, very wrong in fact, but let's not act like there aren't a bunch of guys past and present who have done similar/worse things. Fact of the matter is someone was going to sign him no matter what. I trust Dorsey knows exactly what he's doing in this situation. It's no risk, he fucks up just cut him and keep it moving. From the football side of things, you want to win, you sign guys like this.

I'm probably in the minority, but I don't think getting called a name gives you an exemption from behaving like a civilized human being. I understand that your scenario might be the outcome, but I don't think it should be condoned or applauded.

Certainly I agree. I was more pointing out how we wouldnt bat an eye if the ‘victim’ was a man. We’d be like, “dude was asking for it!” Most, anyways.

I’m with you though. Assaulting someone verbally harassing you is not the answer and is always going to end up badly for you. A vagina does not allow you free reign to be a piece of shit though, and there is a difference between this situation and DV, as some have pointed out.

In my opinion, the NFL suspending him for a year.
Well, we are talking about a different league, then. Because there is no precedent for that in the NFL based on recent events.

With that said, I do agree that egregious acts of violence should lead to longer suspensions than they currently do. And while I don't think any one act from Hunt falls in that category, the accumulation of 3 incidents probably does.

Ideally, after that, no team would pick him up.
Wait, what? So you are saying his career should be over? That is wild given the current landscape of the NFL. And honestly, regardless, I don't believe that is right or just.

Because there are players more worthy of being given a shot. Playing in the NFL is not a right. I don't think it's that crazy to prefer to have a league of players that haven't been involved in a violent incident. More leniency for drug offenses. Less for violent offenders.
So you are banning Hunt from the league, then? We'll also retroactively ban the multiple players who have committed worse acts than Hunt.

Where is the line being drawn with regards to those who have committed an act of violence? We banning them all?

So, I have several thoughts on this, and I think it’s ok to have mixed feelings.

I’m slightly surprised because we have Chubb in place and it seems like an unnecessary risk.

However, that said, if we did not have Chubb in place, I would have been jumping up and down on tables over this signing. That admittedly makes me a hypocrite, I realize.

I think it’s possible to hate assault/violence and still like this move.

I’m not naive. For every perfect citizen on our football team, there’s another player who is a terrible husband, terrible father, and regular cheater with “Instagram models” on the road. Many players abuse drugs and get past the required testing. While that is nowhere near the level of domestic violence or assault—absolutely, no question—it’s merely to say that I root for the Cleveland Browns as players, as a team, acknowledging that some are not good people.

I am a Browns fan. I do “want” them to be good people. I’d like to think that they are. However, I know that not all of them are. I can live with that.

As a football move, it’s a no-brainer. Again, Chubb is an animal, but this is the best 1-2 punch in the NFL now. Not only that, but it keeps him from Pittsburgh and Baltimore.

I’m in a state of awareness of knowing what happened, acknowledging that it’s horrible, but admitting that I root for these dudes as football players on my football team. The rest is just pure wishful thinking.

As a person, I really hope he sees the error of his ways, learns from them, and advocates against these actions in the future. Perhaps through a life’s donation to the cause, he’s able to affect real change.

On the other side of it, him toting the football for the Browns doesn’t bother me. He’s a RB on my favorite football team; he’s not dating my little sister.

I'm trying to figure out how not wanting your favorite sports team to sign a guy who is still under investigation somehow equates to him never getting a job again ever. Other than reducing touches for Chubb (who was being overused you know) I dont see how this benefits the Browns. He is a fresh sideshow for training camp; he is facing an undetermined suspension. And this team is headed up by a 1st time HC. Just seems like a needless distraction for what will be a 6-13 game player who will be a RFA in the offseason. I figured Browns fans were ready to move on from The Training Camp Circus but I guess not. And I guess fans think we are past being a disaster as a org that more distractions are cool. Silly me.

why?
we have Chubb already.

Why do we need another?

We need recievers. Not more RBs

I don't think we really need him but I think it's a good pick up. Duke is a better route runner. Chubb is a better in-between the tackles runner. Hunt fit kind of in the middle of the two. I think it gives the use of all three without worrying about over working or injury to one of them.

Hue use to talking about how they couldn't over work Duke because they were scared he would get injured and they couldn't replace what he did. If you have Hunt, he can step in for either Chubb or Duke and it would be much a distribution to the offense. Maybe Duke is used as WR more and in the return game.

The RB position involves a lot of contact. It’s quite possible that either Chubb or Duke are banged up or outright injured by the time Hunt can play.

Exactly I just see him as upgrade over Hillard and we will probably keep Hillard till Hunt is off suspension. Doesn't Hunt have to be on a roster to start the clock on his suspension?

Don't think what Hunt did really qualifies as domestic violence. It was just regular assault.
But err, uhh.... the violence.... happened on.... US soil....

Damnit. You got me, Jack.

This wasn't even a domestic violence incident. He shoved the woman and then lightly kicked her. Yeah, it was wrong, but if there are places in the NFL for rapists and killers then there's a place for Hunt. On a morality scale, I'd argue that CJ Anderson trying to fly out an IG thot behind his pregnant girlfriend's back is grosser than what Hunt did, and no one is calling for his job.

Adam Schefter said on ESPN that he "believes" a decision will be made on Hunt's suspension after the Combine. He also "believes" that he will get a 10 or 12 game suspension.

My 2 cents... with all the positive vibes surrounding the Browns the past few months, this could turn things quickly, not just in the media, but possibly with some of the players as well. I saw a few Browns players tweet positive things about the signing, but I can't imagine this makes Duke Johnson, or more importantly, Nick Chubb, too happy. I just hate to see any of this happen after all the positivity of how last season ended and all the players loving the hire of Freddie. Now I am just picturing our 2 RB's being pissed off and uneasy about where they stand.

Chubb and Hunt both seem like guys that should be getting 20 carries and on the field for most of the offensive snaps... not guys that should be splitting carries. It'll definitely be interesting to see how it all plays out.

Cheating on your girlfriend isn't against the law.

Assault is.

And if we're gonna start suspending players for cheating on their significant others, might as well just cancel the league.
