To me, Love's struggles contribute to his health, us not using him properly, and Kevin himself even. All those things have been a factor.

I thought last night, he finally stopped "thinking" too much. I was pointing this out in the game thread the other day, how many open shots, shots Kevin normally would take, and just wouldn't. Some thought he was just being unselfish, I couldn't disagree more. There's a difference between being unselfish, and timid. And this is a guy that's averaged 26 a game, there should be ZERO hesitation when you have an open shot.

That to me, signified Kevin at his lowest this season, and I thought that was just sad.

How many times recently have we seen him throw his arms up like he's going to shoot, then doesn't? His struggles have become so bad, the guy has been thinking too much.

I like that he just went out there, stopped thinking, and just played. I expect him to have a breakout second half. Get him his rest, let him come back healthy. I think we have to make more of an effort getting him the ball on the elbow, that's clearly where Kevin likes to do his damage. I notice when he's on the elbow, he's just a different player, feels he can score multiple ways.

He'll be fine.

Kevin has had a "subpar for him" season to date. Its funny to watch the posters who actively dislike him act like this is how he'll play the rest of his career or this is how he's always played.

It's also funny to watch them make poor arguments, like saying that Love's slumping 3P shooting means he isn't contributing to floor spacing which just isn't true because his man till accounts for him at the 3 P line seriously, creating floor space, vs when Marion or Delly are at or behind the 3P line and virtually ignored by their defender.

The best part then is when these posters find it weird the Cleveland Cavalier fans like Kevin Love, a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers. But these are the same guys who think Love's season and statistical accomplishments last year and most of his years in Minnesota were overrated. They will also hold Loves final year in Minn against him and tell you that unless he mirrors that season again, he is overrated or not doing enough for the Cavs, ignoring the obvious fact that he is now playing on a team with LeBron and Kyrie. Even when Kevin's FG% and 3P%(the only things in his game right now that are struggling compared to his career in total) eventually revert closer to career norms, they will still find ways to knock Kevin Love.

I have to disagree with you on that.

They really put the clamps on almost every EC opponent from 2011-14 when the games mattered most with that hedge/trap defense. And, let's not forget that they actually had some really tight series in the Eastern Conference over that four-year run. Last year, EC opponents scored (just barely) over 100 points in 2-of-15 playoff games.

Most teams were frankly lucky to get over the 90-point hump against the Heat last year. There was a team that had their defense completely figured out, but it was also the team that had the whole league in total scramble mode at all times. The Spurs are a big exception, not the rule.

When they won their first title of the 'Big Three' era, they totally handcuffed OKC's potent offense in the biggest moments. That defense was very good. I'm not sure how this turned into a Bosh/Heat conversation, though. lol

Most of the ec opponents were awful aside from indy. They would have shut down the ec first and second round opponents under any situation. Plus lebron not bosh was the best and most valuable defender on the team.

In 2012 kg destroyed bosh. Boshs lack of rim protection didn't help with rondo. Bosh did good in the finals because okc had an is offense and no post threat. It was a good match up for bosh and Miami .

In 2013 West and Hibbert ripped apart bosh. Duncan then destroyed bosh in the finals.

In 2014 Duncan then destroyed bosh again. Bosh was getting abused like a piñata in the ecf and finals from 2012 to 2014 aside from the 2012 finals. His lack of rebounding, lack of post defense, and lack of rim protection is why I can him a very overrated defender.

Not sure what series you were watching but Bosh barely played against KG in '12. He came off the bench in games 5-7 recovering from his groin strain he suffered in Game 1 of the Indy series. He didn't play in games 1-4 of that Celtics series.

Love has been an above average NBA player this season.

Certainly better than many realize, not to mention the vocal minority who have embarrassed themselves by revealing zero basketball understanding.

Love has far outplayed Bosh this season. By a wide and non-debatable margin (LINK).

When you compare this season's Love versus last season's Bosh, they performed about the same (LINK).

And that's factoring in that Bosh was in Year 4 of playing with Bron and Wade (and on the same team in general) while Love just switched teams and an entire roster of players.

My guess is that the only explanation for why some of the low BB IQ posters don't realize this is that their knowledge of the NBA is, "Yay points!" Anything beyond that escapes their understanding.

Let's let the season play out and see if he can continue to adjust and be incorporated.

The real test of Love (and this team in general) is how they perform by and in the playoffs.

Until then, as long as he's playing above average while the rest of the team is jelling and winning, I'm not going to freak out about it.

Especially since Love is already contributing at the same level Bosh did last year.

PS: Notice, however, I explicitly said that Love was "above average." I did not say he was really good, or superstar-level. Just to nip that potential red-herring in the bud.

Love is obviously an excellent rebounder and a high IQ guy within an offensive system. Looks for the open guy and not a chucker. He can't hit the 3 well enough to justify the # of attempts he takes, but I put that on the coaching (no I'm not anti-Blatt). The lazy D was really annoying early in the year, but he's made strides lately in that area (probably due to some peer pressure).

The big thing that annoys me about Love is a certain wimpiness and lack of aggressiveness. He doesn't exert his will offensively when the game gets meaningful. There have been a lot of games where you think the guy isn't doing much and you notice he put up 15 and 15. He's really been what amounts to a solid 3rd wheel, but I guess I was just expecting more of a tough, top 10-15 player in the league who could carry a team certain games. Haven't seen that to date. Dude has the skill but seems more content to play in the shade.

Can't forget that Love is adjusting to a new team, city and role. Fuck, his life has flipped upside down. Might sound boohoo, and childish, but for any human its a huge change, He has been a great player for years, and his team picked him up. Awesome effort tonight.
