For the most part, I do agree, but I do know LeBron has been thinking about coming back for a while now. Not saying he was necessarily "colluding" for an exit before the Finals were over, but it was definitely on his mind..
I've actually been pondering lately about how long before he officially made his decision to return, did he actually begin contemplating that as a real possibility?
He obviously didn't wake up that morning, put his Cleveland pants on and decide. I'm sure he's known about it for some time. And I wonder if, either consciously or subconsciously, did he say to himself "okay, if we don't win the championship, I'm going home"? And I wonder if he had that on his mind during the Finals series as he did when he left. Only this time, the shoe would have been on the other foot.
In retrospect, it certainly seemed to have been premeditated. I see no other reason to opt out of your contract unless you 1. Re-sign for less money (which I thought he would do) or 2. As we now know, have already made the decision to come to Cleveland.
My guess, knowing that LeBron has said he would never have played for another team, is that he knew from at least the moment he opted out that this was going to happen.
That could've given him ample time to contact Your K Love's and the like to see if they'd be willing to jump on board. As soon as he was given the green light, it was a done deal.
