Lmao
Also Bennett looked scared shitless when the guy announced he was a former #1 pick. I think he expected dude to embarrass him by announcing his stats

Why would Dion be unhappy about it? I'm sure he knows that his empty stats have never contributed to the Cavs being a successful team.

Don't underestimate how very dumb Dion Waiters is.

And before I get jumped all over for saying that... Let me clarify: He's a talented basketball player who also happens to be a total box of rocks.

Bosh averaged 12 FGA last year compared Dion's 14 FGA. I don't even have to ask who contributed more for their respective teams. Bottom line, Waiters should average around 10 FGA next year. Reggie Jackson averaged 14 FGA as well, but he slightly had a better season than Dion and contributed more for his respective team. Dion is a talented player, but the Cavs can and will win games without him getting significant minutes and touches. The team will not be dependent on him to be a major contributor on the offensive end if Kyrie is healthy.

Completely disagree, and can pretty much guarantee LeBron & the Cavs do as well. LeBron loves Dion. They see Dion as an integral part of this team. It's part of the reason they were willing to include Wiggins in the end. They'd rather keep Dion + still keep most of their picks than keep Wiggins + having to include more picks in the deal.

Dion also is the one guard on our roster who has the offensive skill that has shown he has the skillset to defend well & become a very good defender.

Will they win games when he's off his game and/or if he's not getting significant minutes? Absolutely. However, the same can be said about Kyrie. Or Love. Or LeBron. This team will win plenty of games when anyone struggles.. However, for this team to win it all, just like with any other Big 3 team, they're gonna need guys like Dion to contribute significantly.

Boston doesn't win it in '10 without Rondo, P.J Brown, etc. Miami doesn't win their 2 titles without Mike Miller, Ray Allen, etc. San Antonio doesn't win without Leonard, Diaw, etc.

Don't underestimate how very dumb Dion Waiters is.

I don't think Dion's dumb at all. Don't let his interviews or the way he talks fool you. He's a fierce competitor with a strong, confident mindset. It's what the Cavs & LeBron love most about him.

Don't confuse competitiveness and confidence for selfishness, greed, & idiocy. He's all about the team, he just exudes confidence & knows he's starter material.

the feature article recently posted in the Dion thread is a good read, and it reflects some of these comments.

Thank you as this needed to pointed out as much as possible. Still does as Waiters is a rare talent who fits so well with this team. Waiters can be our Leonard this year.

Yes, because Dion is "dumb" enough to complain about touches on a team with Kyrie, Kevin Love, and LeBron James. Do you realize how "dumb" that sounds? Furthermore, he only complained about touches last season because he felt as though him getting more touches gave us our best shot at winning. That's what he cares about above everything else. Winning. As long as we're winning I don't think Dion would care whether he's getting 15 shots per game or five.

So who is going to be the one that leaks out for the outlets? Naturally, we had no one with the capabilities of a Love on the team last season but I'm having a tough time remembering anyone even near the half court line after made baskets/misses underneath the rim. Our style is going to have to (and will) change, obviously. Semi related: Really looking forward to Kyrie not walking the ball up the court like he's playing chicken with the 8 second violation every possession.

We didn't have people leak out because we didn't have a guy to throw those outlet passes. I'm guessing it will be LeBron and/or Dion, as they are the two most athletic wings on the team.

Just watched the press conference. Love came off so well.cant wait to see him get started.

Marion is pretty crafty when it comes to leaking out as well. I suppose it will depend on the extent to which Blatt lets them cheat forward. With the rebounding on the team, I expect they will be running.

Wiggins would have fit in really well. :chuckle:

With Love & Andy being such great rebounders, it'll allow any & everyone to leak out for the outlet passes & even ahead of that to set up the Love hockey assist (which he impressively mentioned in the PC)..

It'll be absolutely nuts how many fast break opportunities we'll have.

Couple notes there:

1) If you watch Marion's highlights from last season, almost 50% of them are him leaking out on the break, almost always ahead of the defenders

2) This team will be running, hands down. Griffin even said so on Bull and the Fox yesterday. When asked if this team is gonna run and score 120 ppg like the old Suns, Griff's exact quote was "Well we better because I'm gonna be really disappointed if we don't! *laughs* We have the chance to be a really special team in transition." And then he went on to gush over Love's outlet passing. So yeah, they'll be leaking out and running. :D

Did I use the word dumb improperly or something? Yes, it sounds very dumb. But since Dion Waiters is not a very intelligent person, I'm not going to put it past him.

Maybe, maybe not

That's what he cares about above everything else. Winning.

I hope so.

I do.

Dion on playing with LeBron:
"I hate losing, and a guy like [James], who's probably the best player in the world right now, is someone I can learn from. I can grow. I still haven't reached my peak. Now with a guy like that, he can open up the floor for you and give you a lot of opportunities."

Dion on Kevin Love, who he worked out with this summer:
"He likes my game," Waiters said. "He thinks I'm underrated. One of the things about K-Love, he knows I pass the ball."

Dion on his desire to start:
"I'm an alpha dog, man," he said. "No one should take that the wrong way. The way I am, it got me this far, so why stop having it now? I would never, ever, ever stop having confidence. That's the toughness I've got - Philly toughness. I mean, I think that's what keeps me going every day, keeps me levelheaded and staying focused, got me a chance to be something in the NBA."

Dion on winning a title in Cleveland:
"You know how crazy that city would be, man, if we win a title? That's the main focus right now. I can't focus on Dion. I've got to focus on the team and what's best."

He doesn't seem very dumb to me. I think people just get that impression from him due to the way he talks and because he spells like shit on Twitter, although the latter may be laziness / lack of caring more than anything.

Some people hear Dion talk or see how he types & assume he's dumb, when that's not the case at all.

He knows he's not gonna be the #1 option, has even said that publicly.

Again, don't confuse his confidence with him being a selfish idiot.

Not sure where this narrative of Dion being a dummy who can't grasp concepts came from, but it needs to die.
