Kings Staying Put (was Sonics coming back)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: Sonics coming back?

Go fuck yourself. At least they care, Sac is a great basketball town.. The Maloof's are just a bunch of crooks.

This is similar to the Bennett situation, however the Maloofs didn't run the team into the ground (intentionally.) Ripping a basketball town of their team, Seattle is doing the same thing that happened to them in a sense. I hope Sacramento gets their team back.

Sacramento is only an hour and a half away from S.F., where the Warriors will soon relocate. I'm not defending the move away from Sacramento, but I do believe it had an influence on the Maloofs reneging on the tentative agreement with Sacramento.

I didn't say they didn't, I didn't say they weren't, and I certainly didn't say anything worthy of you telling me to fornicate myself.

Re: Sonics coming back?

Seattle pretty much has the team in the bag. Unfortunately for them Sacramento has time to counter-offer and not only that the league has to approve the sale/relocation. The Maloofs may get out like bandits either way, but their lack of attempt to even try selling to a local buyer is pretty slimy.

Re: Sonics coming back?

I wonder about the Thunder vs. Sonic rivalry.

Re: Sonics coming back?

Hows that Browns vs Ravens rivalry? (different sport, same context)

Only the same when the Thunder win it all next season (the first season Seattle returns) just like the Ravens did (the first season the Browns were back)

Sale is not approved. They had to file in case they do get the team. Carry on.

Re: Sonics coming back?

What gives you any indication that it won't be approved? It's a formality at this point.

Selling the team only requires a 50% majority of the NBA Board of Governors, which they'll assuredly get. Moving the team requires 75% majority. If this is the case of a bidding war, the Seattle group will easily win.

[h=1]Committee wants Kings to stay put[/h]

An NBA owners' committee studying the future of the Sacramento Kings has unanimously recommended the team not be moved to Seattle and be kept in Sacramento.

The owners of the Kings, the Maloof family, had been pushing the Kings be sold to a group that would move the team to Seattle. The finance and relocation committees held a conference call Monday afternoon to make their final decision on what to recommend to the rest of the league's owners after studying competing offers for several months.

Under procedure, the owners will not vote until seven days after they receive the findings of the committee, which means any decision will not become official until next week. However, the full body of owners is expected to follow the recommendation.

The board will meet during the week of May 13 to vote, the league said in a release.
