Kirk Herbstreit Forced to Leave Columbus

Kirk Herbstreit has been forced to leave Columbus to move to Tenessee because OSU fans were threatining his wife and kids because he is not biast enough on the Buckeyes. That's great Buckeye fan. Good job. This is just stupid.

I think he is an incredible broadcaster. Can you imagine how hard it is for him to be objective about Ohio State, having played there? I think he overcompensates sometimes on-air so he doesn't look like a homer, but his knowledge of the game during a broadcast is second to none.

College athletics are pathetic sometimes. Harassing a man's family because he doesn't want to look like a homer? The kids are 18-22 years old and people act like it's life or death. I feel bad for Herbie. Some people need to get a life.

That was my point. He overcompensates (I think the story I read about this even acknowledged that fact), trying to sound unbiased when in fact he's just being obnoxious about it. He should just say what he thinks, period.

I understand what you mean, but if he says what he thinks, his bias towards OSU will become more apparent. It's extremely difficult to be objective about your hometown team, let alone it being a team you played for yourself. When he overcompensates, he ruffles a few feathers with Buckeye fans. If his bias towards OSU shows, he ruffles the feathers of every other fan of every other team. I think his approach is 100% correct so that he doesn't lose any credibility constantly swinging from the nads of OSU football.

Herbstreit is very bias towards Ohio State. I think he is a bit jealous of how huge Ohio State is now, and how they were kind of average in his days as a Buckeye. I think him getting into a battle with a 20 year old college qb is rediculous! Most analyst have no problem showing their affection for their alma mater i.e. Mark May at Pitt, or Lou Holtz with Norte Dame or S. Carolina, and no one holds that against them. And I highly doubt it was that bad with the fans against Herbie. He lived out in the very rich suburbs were most people were too snooty to even be passionate about sports! He may have recieved a few letters from stupid fans but that comes with the job and spotlight...

He lived in Upper Arlington which is right beside Ohio State Campus. Upper Arlington is packed with Buckeye fans. Part of the reason UA is so expensive is because of its location to downtown and campus. All the rich alum want to live by campus, but still live in a high-end suburb/part of Columbus.
