Restricted free agent Jared Jeffries signed an offer sheet with the New York Knicks yesterday, according to NBA sources. The offer covers five years and is worth around $30 million and uses the Knicks' mid-level exception -- a first-year salary of $5.2 million.

Once the paperwork is complete and the Wizards receive a copy, the team will have seven days to decide whether to match the offer. Team owner Abe Pollin, President of Basketball Operations Ernie Grunfeld and Coach Eddie Jordan have all indicated a desire to retain Jeffries and continue building on the momentum created by consecutive playoff appearances.

Re: Knicks sign Jared Jeffries

I hope he becomes a Knick...put them further under the cap and steal from the Wizards

MLE?

Wiz will probably match this....

While the Wizards have indicated they would match any offer Jeffries received, there were those yesterday who believed the team might let Jeffries walk for financial reasons

JJ actually would be a nice backup here.

One less problem for the cavs vs wiz matchup if he goes to NYK. Fishface on the ny bums how depressing.

If this one gets matched, I wonder if Gooden will be the Knicks next target.

Im guessing the Cavaliers are offering a little more than this so it wouldn't make much sense...

If Gooden wanted the MLE, he would have been signed three weeks ago...

Not just for the Knicks to sign to the MLE, but more for them to try to work out a sign and trade, something to that effect.

they have no one on their roster that the cavs (or anyone) needs. Unless they want to give us Channing which they won't.

I'd love Channing and/ or Jeffries. I actually think both of those guys would be a damn good fit.

NY needs help to get to 35 wins this year. If that.

is jeffries actually worth this much money??

um no, he wasnt a major contributor to the wizards, not big enough to warrant a 30 million contract.
