Budding Cavs superstar who gets out there and helps recruit other free agents.

From the PD:

The Cavaliers not only offered the prospect of being reunited with Brown, but the opportunity to rebuild in Cleveland with All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving -- who texted Bynum for all of Monday and most of Tuesday encouraging him to sign with the Cavaliers.

I was hoping we'd get that kind of boost from Kyrie.

He did not let me down. I would not be surprised if playing with Irving was Bynum's biggest factor in choosing the Cavs.

Shed a little tear there... beautiful offseason that has built up expectations. It is Cleveland, so they may be torn down, but I am glad we reached this point of at least pondering playoffs and contention once again, and did so with the enthusiastic backing of our star.

Yeah I remember thinking LeBron Never did this then It hit me like a ton of Bricks. He Did the opposite and that made that Kyrie text story so much more Amazing. Players want to go to a place where their players care about their team. Awesome thing to read and or see!

I always think that people don't wanna play with Kobe, because he's more of a loner, and it's kind of his way or the high way, he takes a COMMAND of everyone.

Lebron on the other hand, is tight with everyone, and that's why he gets all these buddies with them.

So I look at Kyrie, and think, why not both? He can be tight with other players, but still comm to this team, he seems committed, with this recruiting, and the way he absolutely served Spike.

LeBron could have done the super team here, eaisly, but he didn't care enough to recruit players here. I think Kyrie does. But Kyrie also seems to have his friends, and his ties. I think this is gonna end up very good.

reading how kyrie was recruiting gave me that tingly feeling in my stomach.. which in-turn, tickled my throat.

i use to question if he would stay a cav, but his efforts in recruiting players lets me know his interests in staying here long-term. and thats exactly why lebron never recruited because he didnt want to build something he couldnt leave and had no intentions on staying on that team, long term.

again, kyrie irving, chris grant, and mike fucking brown... thats how you get it done!!!

loving the face(s) of this franchise right now.

That shit right there means more to me than the fact we signed Bynum.

For those who missed Kyrie's interview during yesterday's Summer League game:

- Said he set up meetings with other players to work out with each other. Got there Monday.
- Hasn't met Anthony Bennett, who is rehabbing his shoulder in Cleveland
- Knows he needs to grow as a leader and take charge on both ends of the floor
- Has been watching Bynum for a long time. Looking forward to playing with him if he comes (trying not to get fined)
- Time is now to make the playoffs and contend
- Says the difference between the good and great teams is putting in extra time during the summer
- On he and Dion - "Last year, it was a 'your turn, my turn' type of offense, which was predictable...we need to learn how to play off each other"
- "I love Andy...I love Andy" (Face literally lit up when Varejao was mentioned)
- Said defensive improvement starts with him up top, taking the challenge every night to stop the opposing point guard
- Said Tristan is a workhorse and a core piece
- "Cleveland fans, (it's) gonna be something special next year, I can guarantee that"

Kyrie definitely says the right things. Glad he realizes that the "your turn/my turn" dynamic between him and Dion didn't work.

I literally smiled when he said that. Acknowledging a problem is the first step in correcting it.

"Your turn, my turn"...he even used the same terminology we use here on RCF. Loved that he admitted that.

EDIT: Also when commenting on Tristan, Kyrie said "Tristan's developing a right handed jumpshot now. I don't know if you guys knew that, but he's switching from a lefty to a righty...can't wait to see it next year and run pick and pops with Tristan" :chuckles:

Thanks for posting that and wanted to see if anyone else heard him say this

To me this shows yet another strength for Kyrie and glad that he not only noticed this but has the ability to be honest of how it was too predictable for defenses.

This kid is deserves to be great not only for the way he plays the game but he impresses me more and more with what kind of person he seems to be. This kind of athlete is very rare in todays game and we are absolutely blessed to have him as our team leader moving forward.
