Re: Kyrie Irving Part 2 (Waiting on MRI Results)

I never want to advocate a knee injury, of any kind. Shooting around with Larry Sr. while I was working with Larry Jr on his guard drills out at Revere High School, he opened up one time and said he is 100% sure they would have won us a championship if it werent for his and Mark's knees. Nevermind Daugherty's back or the Mahorn stuff or Jordan's ONE shot, it was his degenerative knees and Mark's knee was just never the same after that scoreboard thing right after The Shot. Once you open that pandora's box, you truly can change the trajectory of a players entire remaining career. A bad wheel is potentially one of THE WORST possible things, big or small player.

I never forgot that, so even though I want us to tank, I cant get onboard with hoping Kyrie has ANY damage at all to his knee. I dont even want him to scratch his knee. Those hand injuries, that is one thing, but the knees. THAT is the money. Dont touch his knees basketball gods.

Do I want to have Kyrie sit, and let Dion have the ball and Dion raise his trade value while losing close games over the next 2 months... YES, very much. But never at the risk of long term knee trouble for our ONE bonafide max contract guy.

Here is hoping we just had a bad scare and we treat this scare with the precaution and patience needed to fully heal any tendon related injury. Sit it down for a good month and get in the weight room/water and work with someone to strengthen his body/balance so we dont have to worry about major knee issues for him in the future.

Check those fucking Nike shoes too. Alot of these guys are wearing similar shoes. I had a pair of D. Rose Addidas and I literally felt like I was going to jump/cut out of my own knee as the game wore on. Took them back to the store and went back to wearing this older Addidas I have had for like 4-5 years. These shoes are playing a part in how these guys legs are breaking down on them.

Couldn't agree more. Not to mention that for his development's sake I think he needs a full season free of injury to kind of get that monkey off his back. I hope to God this is just a big scare, because if it's not it just sets the whole process back even further.

The point about good shoes doesn't get brought up enough. As a runner I know how a pair of ill fitting or poorly designed shoes can set you back. I hope these athletes take their foot care seriously. It's not just about style and sponsorships.

Lebron recently wouldn't even wear his new model shoe for that reason. He was wearing a past model because the fit was better. They still had alot of work to do I guess really dialing it in. Wonder if same thing could be happening with Kyrie?

Re: Kyrie Irving Part 2 (Waiting on MRI Results)

The last sentence of the Lloyd article at the head of this thread is chilling to me.

Westbrook and Rose flash across my mind.

Damn it.

Re: Kyrie Irving Part 2 (Waiting on MRI Results)

Somebody better get that tank thread up and running.

Re: Kyrie Irving Part 2 (Waiting on MRI Results)

Would it be bad to offer him a lowball extension like warriors did with curry (and to a lesser extent the C's with Rondo) if he's out for the year? He's not nearly a max player if he can't stay on the floor.

NO, it wouldn't be bad. Never been the playoffs. Never won anything close to 40 games. Can't stay healthy. See no problem with not offering a max.

I know, it's absurd there are cavs who actually respond to the possibility our superstar has a serious injury with a post like

The tank is on!!

what good does it do to get a new star if our current star potentially has a career altering injury? Sickening that there are actually cavs fans who appear happy at the prospect. Tell me, what part of the OKC turnaround everyone wants to cite involved Durant sustaining a serious knee injury? A serious injury doesn't move this franchise forward, it sets us back significantly. Some people need to worry more about the players we have on the roster than the ones we don't have yet and may never get.

yes, it would be very bad if he's out for the year.

What the fuck? That's not what he asked. Why would you bold parts to totally change his question?

Because losing is all some people know. Once we start winning again on a consistent basis (whatever decade that is), people will change their tunes.
