Yes, but to be fair Bulls fans might not know who Irving is yet seeing as their "star" player has only played 50 games since Irving has been in the NBA. :chuckles:

:chuckles:

Embarrassing that they booed him though. Like really really embarrassing. He's playing for your country at that particular time. Not the cavs. :thumbdown I can't wait to face them this season.

Bulls fans are classless. I'm sick of the Rose story and how he is hyped onto the front page of every story. It's not fair to Irving and Curry who are better players.

And if Irving is playing D like this during the regular season, he'll be the best point guard in the NBA.

:chuckles: I didn't watch the game last night, so the first thing I did when I woke up was go onto nba.com.

When I did, All I saw was Derrick rose on the front page with the headline "there goes that man" so after seeing that I'm expecting to see he scored like 20 points and completely dominated. Instead All he really did to get these headlines, was score two fancy layups, while adding 3 turnovers, and doing this mainly in the 2nd half after doing virtually nothing in the 1st.

I dont want to sound bitter. I think He's a fantastic player. But the a** licking hes getting from the media when players like kyrie and curry, are clearly playing better is getting ridiculous.

I agree that kyrie can become the best point guard in the leauge if he takes the way he is defending for usa into next season. Because he has everything else. He's a great scorer, shooter, he has amazing handles, hes a good passer and he will be winning a lot of basketball games add that to the fact hes only 22 years old. I think he can become the best.

It's extremely exciting to be a cavs fan knowing we are going to have him, love and lebron for the next 5 years.

I just think he's talented enough to average 20 pts 10 assist. 50/40/90 ;)

I can't wait to seem him play next season.

Kyrie won't score as well or average as many assists on this team, at least I hope he won't. He won't get the touches he has in year's past.

Strange.

I think you'll be disappointed. I'm expecting a big year from kyrie.

Irving/Rose/Curry probably will be getting less minutes so the USA's staff can evaluate Lillard/Haywood/Korver/etc. in the next couple games.

These games are pretty much the equivalent of preseason or summer league games in the NBA. Games to work out the kinks and mold the roster until the tourney games at the end of the month.

Pretty sure every time Kyrie touches the ball it has the opportunity for an assist. He's the pg, playing with multiple new players that are capable of scoring from anywhere on the floor. The best he played with was Andy and Dion last year. This year Lebron and Love blow what he's played with before out of the water. Not to mention having actual shooting on the team (Miller, Jones, Maybe Allen) and maybe Marion (all around player) who I'd lump in our top 4 if he'd played with us last year.

I'd think PPG will go down for Love and Kyrie naturally. I'd expect Lebron's rebounding take a slight hit due to Andy, Love, and TT. I'd expect Kyries assist numbers to jump in the 8-9 range. I'd expect Lebron's assists to stay the same or go up a little, I'd expect Love at 5+. I think all these numbers will look this way because of adjustments that will need to made to their games.

I'd take a 15 and 9 avg from Kyrie and a 20 and 15 average from Love over what they put up in prior years.

You actually think he get close to 10apg with lebron on the team

Is this a question?

Its not about if he is talented enought o average 20 + points. he has already shown that he can . it is about doing what it takes to win basketball games and thats distributing the ball.

If this team is playing the right way they should be able to get close to 28+ assist per game like the lakers of the eighties.

Im nt sure if Irving can actually get ten assist per game but i think he will have a solid chance of being the first point guard on a lebron team to average more assist.

its just all depends on if the Cavs run a real up tempo offense or not and it seems that they are.

look at last seasons high power offenses like The clippers, Minnesota and Houston. all three took the most free throw attempts

all three led the league in scoring with the Clippers at 107 per game. Both Minnesota and the clippers were top 5 in assist last season.

Id be happy if Irving ends up getting around 8 assist per game. It is a big jump from 6 per game for him but Irving really hasnt had distributing be his primary focus in a game.

Lakers only had 2 guys with a higher than 20% assist percentage that season. Magic with 42% and Cooper with 20% rounded out by Kareem and Byron at 13%, wothry at 9%

Last season
Lebron 32%
Irving 31%
Kevin Love 21%
Dion 18%
AV 12%/ Tristan 4.5%
Link for comparison http://bkref.com/tiny/PaF6R

And 4 of the 5 starters for that lakers team team had a 20% + usage.

lets compare this with the heat trifecta with their number from the year before they ganged up

2009-10 Lebron 41.3 %
2009-10 Wade 36.1%
2009-10 Bosh 11%

2010 Lebron 34.9
2010 Wade 23.5
2010 bosh 8.9

Key differences Wade is a shooting guard , Irving is a point guard. Bosh wasnt much of a passer whereas Kevin love is.

Love wont need to adjust his game his role will be the same in Minnesota as Cleveland
Lebrons adjustments will be minimal
Kyrie will need t be ore of a distribute first score second kind of guy in offense sets.
Dion will actually have more pass opportunities on his drives.
Av will not need to make to many adjustments
Thompson will need to pass more and get back to his role he had in college.

only 3 teams have averaged more than 110 points per game since 2000. Phoenix, golden state and Denver

since 1990 Golden State had one season averaging 118 points per game. That team had nowhere near the defensive ability of the Current cavs roster nor did the offensive Juggernauts phonix had been putting out the last decade.

Cavs have a special opportunity to do something we havent seen since the showtime lakers and Kyrie will be a major component in that
