I'll admit it and own it, I think I suggested multiple times that we trade Kyrie for Rondo lol

I liked this gem from myself as well on page 17

Re: Trading Kyrie Irving

This thread should be deleted, quickly. It was a disgrace to begin with, and it is just flat out embarrassing for the community.

I said this at one point...

That trade netted them 2 first rounders, Danilo Gallinari, Wilson Chandler, Timofey Mosgov, and one other scrub (Renaldo Balkman I think). Heck even if we were able to get someone on Gallinari's level and another project for Kyrie I would totally take that deal. I think the offers would pour in for Kyrie, to the point at least where we'd have to spend time to examine all of them and give it serious thought.

GM Mario would have been the next Ted Stepien.

That's hilarious Supermario.....I'm sure I am in there somewhere too, thinking about trading Kyrie and keeping Dion. lmfao.

I'm not naming names...

But there were definitely long-time posters in there suggesting we trade Irving for a draft pick...

But I'm not fond of public shaming, so I'll leave it at that.
Yup. It's weird because Kyrie is exactly the type of player you hope to get with a top draft pick. And yet people were saying we could trade him for a draft pick and grab Exum or Smart instead. Look how they're doing now. :chuckle:

I'll own up to it: given what we were hearing at the time, I was definitely open to trading him. He seemed like a malcontent who desperately wanted out of Cleveland. Then they got Blatt, Kyrie got interested in playing defense and now he seems like a happy camper.

I think we can be pretty sure now that a lot of Kyrie's unhappiness stemmed from a distaste for Mike Brown. By firing him and bringing in Blatt (and some other dude returning to the team), there was an overnight change in the culture. So I won't apologize for considering a trade when I was worried he'd bolt - even though playing a year without a new contract would've been foolish on his end.

But, hey, everything worked out! No need to rehash.

I couldn't wrap my head around why anybody would even think about trading him - ESPECIALLY for rambo.
