Kyrie Irving

The finals start June 4th. If we can beat Atlanta without him that's two weeks of rest.
I am all for the sweep, but how realistic is it? The #1 seed is likely to win at least 1 game, then those 2 weeks is moot. 2 weeks probably would benefit the cat, but its not promised and at this stage, I wouldn't bank on it.

If we win today, it gives Blatt a ton of flexibility to potentially rest Kyrie until the finals! This is potentially the best thing that could happen for the team. If Kyrie gets a couple weeks off maybe somehow some way hes effective in the finals. It's hard to imagine winning the finals if Kyrie is ineffective.

Adversity continues. Hoping beyond hope Kyrie can get right sooner than later.

Next man up!! Shump should shine tonight.

Um, I mean, I never said it had to be a sweep...

I doubt we will beat GS with a decrepit Kyrie. I'd say risking losing a game or two against ATL as long as possible is worth having a Kyrie that will help us beat GS, quite frankly. I think we will beat ATL without him, though

Teague won't have 27, that's a plus. Whoever the Cavs put on Teague will guard him more effectively than a gimpy Irving. Cut the head off, the body wiggles. If Teague is pedestrian in his numbers tonight, Cavs win.

Keep him out til we lose a game. (Unless we have a 3-1 lead, then keep him out for Game 5 and bring him back for Game 6 if necessary).

I could see the Hawks running a lot of sets with Teague and Schroder together. Whether that is something we need to be worried about, dunno. Seems like Shump and Delly will be playing tons of minutes! James Jones prob needs to play 25 mins tonight and lets hope hes 'the guy' tonight who goes off.

Sounds like Irving is pouting. Man up and play if it's just tendinitis.

Lots of dislikes here but honestly, I agree wholeheartedly. It's the ECF. If no urgency or pain tolerance now, then when?

If it's really THAT bad and the pain is at a point where it's unrealistic, then I guess I'm in the wrong here. Oh well. Been wrong before once or twice if you ask my wife at least.

Hopefully this secretly fires Delly up even more to show up Kyrie while he's in a suit. Not only could that produce a big game for us, it might get Kyrie to re-think how much pain he really is in if we go up 2-0 on the road with him giving us basically one less-than-mediocre performance and people start questioning how much he really matters to the team.

Have you watched a single game? He has no lift whatsoever, I don't think it is purely a pain issue, he cannot move well or get anything under his shot. You keep him out until we absolutely need him in.

Agree with this.

Even then, I wonder if the healthiest thing to do is just call him out for the series behind closed doors.

Make sure the team is aware that if you're taking Kyrie's minutes, they're yours for at least three more games.

And this bizarre argument that pain alone shouldn't be enough to keep someone out is asinine. Pain forces your body to compensate to avoid pain, whether you intend for it to or not. That causes...you guessed it...tendinitis. And what can tendinitis lead to? You guesses it...torn tendons.

Pain is your body telling you to stop doing something. Severe pain is your body telling you it's already too late.
