I'm a little curious (and worried) about Kyrie's future health. Maybe he hasn't had any injuries that will negatively impact his future in the NBA, but you don't need to tear ligaments or tendons to be an injury prone player through your career. Just look at all the freak injuries he's already had...

I'd hope his career trajectory would look more like Isiah or Chauncey (in terms of games played each season) rather than Baron Davis or Mark Price. Hell, even if he can't play more than 60 games, he really needs to be healthy when it matters most. And it's not just for the 16+ grind in the post-season... he needs to be able to click on all cylinders when that's the case (the regular season is an important warm-up for chemistry). Tony Parker's missed a few bit of regular season games some years, but played enough to be a champion.

Hopefully, it'll never be a big issue, but I'm not holding my breath. Freak injuries can sometimes be the norm, even without specific areas being targeted...

It appears that Irving just needs some sort of consistent off-season regimen to get his body stronger each year.

With all the options LBJ has sought out and explored over his career to get his body ready (yoga, kinesthetics, etc), you would think these would be easily accessible to Irving now.

Who's to say he isn't already? Some people are just brittle.

I have to say Kyrie's long term health is the only concern i have for the Cavs

TT's situation doesnt worry me.. and we will resign Mozgov for sure.

But Kyrie needs to have a few healthy Playoffs otherwise our plan to win some rings could fall flat^^

I always like to think "well how likley is it he gets injured in the playoffs two years in a row"

well how likley is it? what would you guys say? Its obvious he needs time to heal up 110% and get into game shape and with Mo added he doesnt need to play so much minutes..

My hope is that because he is still young that he can recover totally and as his body matures over the years become stronger and less brittle.

but as i said.. Kyrie's longterm health is the only thing i am concerned about

Irving says he's progressing toward return to court

MIAMI (AP) — If Kyrie Irving knows when he'll be back on the floor with the Cleveland Cavaliers, he's not telling.

The All-Star guard will only divulge this much: He's getting closer.

Irving spoke Thursday about his ongoing recovery from the knee injury that required surgery and kept him from all but one game of last season's NBA Finals, when the Cavaliers fell to Golden State in six games. The Cavaliers - like all NBA teams - open training camp later this month, and one of the biggest issues facing the reigning Eastern Conference champions revolves around when their point guard will be ready to play.

"I'm feeling great," Irving said from Miami, where he has been working out. "I'm taking my time with it. Obviously, it was a terrible injury but thank God I had the summer to start rehabbing and I'm definitely progressing in the right way. Whatever my timeline is, it'll be for the betterment of the team and for us to also compete for a world championship at the end of the season."

Irving hasn't revealed exactly what he's physically able to do right now.

"We're going to keep most of the things in house as far as what's going on," he said.

A world...championship?

He wants the gold

Might as well be a world championship. The best players in the world play in the NBA.

Somewhere along the line (I would assume with the emergence of professional basketball in other parts of the globe), the NBA stopped referring to its annual winner as the "world champions" and instead went to "NBA champions."

This created an interesting conundrum for the Celtics in 2008. The league asked them to put "NBA Champions" on their banner, but with all the others in their rafters saying "world," they told the league "No thanks."

I feel like "NBA Championship" sounds more prestigious than "World Championship".

The majority of NBA teams would clean up at the World Championships (or world cup, whatever)
