LeBron James

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
It was so nice to finally see LeBron attack the defense when he isolated in the triple threat position yesterday. Way too often, LeBron jab steps only to hoist a contested jumper. Don't get me wrong, that still happened against OKC, but he made sure to establish the drive as well. By the second half, the defense had to honor his drives, so he was able to kick out to shooters or dish to cutters.

When LeBron doesn't keep a defense honest with his threat to drive, he turns into a worse version of mid-range Carmelo.

Total hypothetical here...

What if...

This whole thing with LBJ doing one year deals and his pushing for an immediate contender is so he can fulfill his goal of a title for Cleveland and then bolt for where he really wants to play? He did say he would be content with one title here.

If the Cavs start ripping off a bunch of wins (something like 18-2 in 20, etc) and LeBron keeps playing like, well, LeBron, his name HAS to at least be brought back into the MVP debates.

Playing as horrendous as we did without him helps his cause.

Before his injuries people discounted him because the perception was this would be a strong team even without him based on his supporting cast.

Now that we have proven the supporting cast without him is fringe playoffs/lottery caliber people will take his candidacy far more seriously that they know how bad we would be without him.

The fact that his name isn't even being mentioned right now in the MVP race is ridiculous. I think just because he is "LeBron", he is held to a higher standard which is preposterous. Like another poster before me said, If we're even close to a 50+ win season and he is putting up the numbers he is right now, it should be a no-brainer he is the league's MVP.

I don't know why, but somehow all this winning has brought back memories of this. Maybe it's just that I suddenly there's a good vibe around this team. I know it's kind of off-topic, still I just have to post it.

Goodness.. The good ol' days. Even though the sideline antics played a big part in the national hatred of the Cavaliers, I would welcome these antics back with open arms. To me, it was a clear sign of the closeness of that group of players, and to see it again would show me just how close these guys really are. I'm not saying that, without it, I have doubts about how close the guys on this roster are, just what seeing it would mean in my mind.

The media hasn't caught up to the normal folks yet. They still aren't giving him the love because of the perception before the season we would have been a good team even without him. I would have thought playing like a dumpster fire without him would have opened more eyes than it did, but there are always a few holdouts I guess.

Yep, he's already been robbed of MVP's before and I suspect it'll be the same this season. He'll have the last laugh as the finals MVP hopefully!

For someone who is as self-conscious about his image as LeBron, I can't even begin to fathom any scenario in which he leaves. None. He's got two All-Stars around him. He's got great role players. The team has signed two of his buddies to contracts and appears willing to pay Thompson more than he's worth.

If he leaves again, there is likely no recovering his image. It's not like the first time around where league-wide there was a perception of the front office not doing enough to surround him with talent (not my view, but other people who don't follow the Cavs). They've given him literally everything to succeed this time around, he went public with his desire to play and retire here and has reiterated multiple times that he wants to finish his career here. His kids want to be here. His wife wants to be here. The fans here love him like fans of no other city ever could. He certainly wasn't as revered in Miami as he is here.

It's one of the great stories in sports. The prodigal son returns home and all is forgiven. Now he needs to cap it off with delivering a title to a city starved of them.

The only people considering that possibility are the fans that still feel uneasy about what happened a few years ago (understandable to a certain extent), and those across the league that want the Cavs to fail and want to watch the city of Cleveland slip back into sports misery.

He's not going anywhere. Neither is Love. You can quote me on that and I will eat crow for days if I'm wrong, but I'm not.

Also, add to that the fact that many of the great players in the game like Magic, Barkley, etc. all give him tons of shit when he left the first time, and then gave him tons of praise when he returned. If he left again, they would all shit on him even worse than the first time. He would go down in history as a bitch ring chaser.

who even else could be considered for MVP other than LeBron and Curry?
