LeBron James

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The Rockets can talk all they want at this point...they know we won't match up again for the rest of this season.

As for the Harden discussion...obviously he's a great player. He can make a shot from anywhere on the court, can handle the ball, has great court vision.

But his "skill" of drawing fouls has extended beyond a "skill" and is dangerously approaching exploitation of the game. He does a good job of cradling the ball with outstretched arms on his drives to the basket which causes defenders going for the strip to rake his arms. That's a nice touch that can be considered skill.

But what he does 7, 8, 9, 10 times during the game where he drives into the paint with the sole intent of flailing his arms wildly to get the referees' attention? Mostly in a situation where he is neither truly getting fouled nor looking to actually take/make a shot? No, that is not skill. That is ammunition for the hoards of anti-NBA sports fans out there that bash this league. Harden embarrasses me as a fan and defender of the NBA.

Seeing that ^ makes me wish we had these guys on our schedule again. I agree with the overwhelming sentiment in here- I cannot stand Harden's game. I wish the league would take a look at his style of play and tweak the rules. Over and over again he drives to the lane and clearly intentionally throws his body into the defender looking for a call rather than the layup. That should be not only a no call but an offensive foul EVERY TIME. How much would his PPG average dip if that happened? 5 points? 8? I dunno but I do know it would. I will relish watching them lose in the playoffs.

And that's not even mentioning the times where he quite literally grabs his defender's body or arms and tries to make it look like HE is getting pulled and tugged at. That is just another form of flopping and should also draw attention to the league.

To the few of you guys in here chastising us for not respecting his game - he doesn't earn any. Playing like that gets him the scorn he deserves. He plays like a bitch, moreso than any player (even Wade) then I've ever seen.

You stay classy, "New King."

Expect a suspension, bitch.

I just hate his brand of basketball - drive to the hoop and look for contact, not a bucket, to get some free throws. It's a disgrace to the game IMO. I mean, the exploit exists, and he exploits it, so all the power to him. Can't blame him too much for that. It's just not fun to watch and it isn't basketball. It's just as bad as flopping in soccer IMO, which everyone detests.

The whole "33 points on 18 shots" narrative is a lot less impressive when you consider half his points came from FT's, I mean it's not like he isn't using a possession when he draws a shooting foul, so I don't know why, in this case, a high points to shots ratio is celebrated. If you add in his FT attempts he used ~25 possessions to get his 33 points. Granted there is the benefit of causing fouls on the opposing team, which obviously has value, but eh.
I think it's unfair to say he drives to the basket looking for contact rather than a bucket, he'll easily lay the ball in if he's left unopposed. Most teams are forced into throwing extra bodies into the lane to keep him from the basket, and he's great at sensing a mismatch and taking bigs into the hole before that help can come. He isolated both Love and Moz early in the game and scored over both at the rim without creating unnecessary contact, he's not just barreling into people to draw fouls.

I don't get the need to penalize a guy for having a full repertoire of Euro hopsteps and hesitation moves to slice into crowded lanes. I can't deny he exaggerates contact, but it still takes incredible skill to even get there and underrated strength to get shots up. He's not exploiting a system, he's playing an efficient brand of basketball that's propping up a lot of subpar players around him and winning a lot of games in the West. There's nothing disgraceful about that.

To LeBron's credit many of those misses in the paint should've been called a foul. Especially in the first half. Now if he makes free throws or not if they call it is a different question.

Refs were killing us until he got that technical. That's about the point where they realized things were getting out of hand and that they'd actually have to call something on the Rockets.

I find it odd that people are complaining about Lebron shooting too much and going iso. What was Houston doing? The fact is, during the playoffs you want the ball in your best player's hands. The only difference between Lebron and Harden is Harden got the foul calls, Lebron didn't except for the the last possession in overtime. Did y'all all forget him hitting K Love in two or three times and K Love missing each time? If Love makes one of those attempts, Cavs are up by 7 or 8 and the game is over. None of these dudes have played in this type of game, so you want Lebron to put it into their hands? Who brought the Cavs back in the fourth? Oh, that's right, James Jones. The fact is none of the other players have playoff experience and the moment was too big for them.

How a Houston homer can watch that and not see Harden hooking LeBron's arm is beyond me.
They argue Lebron hit Harden first, did not get called a foul, so Harden tried to force the issue for the refs to call the defensive foul. I agree with the no call given the situation.
