LeBron James

Do Not Sell My Personal Information

"When we last met in the film room, it was to highlight the Cavaliers’ offense keeping it 100. In this film room, however, we’re going to “attack” an issue that has been hidden in plain sight all season: LeBron James’ increased number of turnovers."

Impressive in-depth analysis, includes multiple gifs:

So ESPN is projecting that LeBron could pass Kareem if he played another 9 seasons after this year.

Do you guys think there is any chance he actually plays that long?

And if he did, how many titles do you think we would win?

This also had me wondering if you guys think Kobe would come here if he decided to play past his current contract. It would be pretty amazing to bring him off the bench for 20 mins a night.

EDIT: Forgot to add my answers.

Depending on health and how close he actually was I could maybe see him doing it, but I think it's far more likely he only plays to 36.

If he played for 10 years though, I say that we could conservatively get 3.

And unless his body just can't do it, I definitely think Kobe plays somewhere else to get number 6. As much as I would love to see the Kobe and LeBron on the same team, I think he would try to stay out west.

What makes you think he only plays till 36?

Playing until they're embarassing themselves on the court is pretty much the rage these days, ie Kobe, Shaq, Nash, Allen etc. Could totally see LeBron still playing when he's 39.

Honestly, I just want him to win one title with us. Anything after that is gravy and on the special-meter won't feel anywhere close to the first one. Right now, it's hard to care about multiple titles when we haven't had any in this town for 50 years.

I don't know if I could see him playing until 39. 37-38 sounds about right. I don't know if he can catch Kareem, but he can definitely get 36,000+ points.

The way I see it, here are my rough projections of his points in the for the rest of his career:

- Note: Some of you may think his point totals decline too much in my projections, but I really think later in his career he'll focus more on facilitating. Also, I think we'll rest him a lot from now on, which is why is game totals for each season are on the low side. For 2014-15, I included 4 games because I think we'll rest the starters in our final 2 games this season.

2014-15 (30 years old): 25.0 ppg x 4 games = 100 points
2015-16 (31 years old): 25.5 ppg x 76 games = 1938 points
2016-17 (32 years old): 25.0 ppg x 74 games = 1850 points
2017-18 (33 years old): 24.0 ppg x 72 games = 1728 points
2018-19 (34 years old): 23.0 ppg x 71 games = 1704 points
2019-20 (35 years old): 23.0 ppg x 71 games = 1704 points
2020-21 (36 years old): 22.5 ppg x 70 games = 1575 points
2021-22 (37 years old): 20.0 ppg x 68 games = 1360 points
2022-23 (38 years old): 18.0 ppg x 67 games = 1206 points

Additional Point Total From Here On Out = 13165 points

Add that to the 24,837 points he already has and you get 38,002, which would actually be 385 points short of Kareem. This was just a rough estimation, though, so I definitely think he has a good chance of beating Kareem.

If he wants to be the all time leading scorer, I'm sure he could do it. Let's say he averages 25 ppg for 3 more years, then falls off 2 ppg per year from there on, and plays 75 games each year. He would be almost neck and neck with Kareem if he plays 7 more years and in 8 more years would definitely pass Kareem.

I was thinking that Bryce Maximus was way old than he is and LeBron would retire so he could go watch him play.

I've always thought LeBron would avoid that since he obviously has interests outside of basketball to occupy his time if his game fell apart.

I'm totally with you on that. I try not to get greedy, but sometimes it just happens :chuckle:

plays 75 games each year.

I don't see him playing more than 65 a year from now on. The 2 week break seemed to really help, and while he may not continue to do a concentrated break like that he most likely will take plenty of time off each year.

It seems like most people think that since LeBron's stats are down a little this year it must be the beginning of the end, and it is all downhill from here. With all the changes and media attention, I still think it is just a slightly down year from him. The best could be yet to come.

I think he will play for seven or eight years after this season. Not sure about 39. But, even though he is such a freak of an athlete, his game would still be good in his late thirties because of him being such a good passer. All he needs to do is improve his jump-shot, which he has to be fair to him. But if he improves it a bit further, I see no reason why he can't go on for the next seven or eight years.

I think he will score a lot more next season. I would say 26.5 ppg. This was the transition year. Next season, Ky will handle the ball more and allow LeBron to focus more on scoring than ball-handling.

lebron is diversifying. he is not at all going to be playing at that age with a diminished skill level. he will have iother irons in the fire.

It's hilarious to see lechoke on TNT/espn. He tries to steal the spotlight but fails miserably while kyrie shows him up.
