I just don't believe Lebron James would make Damon Jones his primary shooting coach or that he would effectively hand over his jump shot to Damon Jones. Lebron is just not that dumb. This is a guy who built himself up from being a very inconsistent jump shooter to having a near-elite jump shot with Miami, shooting 38-40% from 3. Why would he throw that away now?

Dumb or not, it's happening right now. Believe it.

Lebrons main weakness is his desire to trust his friends with his career instead of professionals. Its the same with Rich trying to bend gilbert over a barrel on TT contract. Lebron is more worried about looking after his guys than he should be. But it could be worse, i mean if this was the NBA in the 80's it would be coke and pre-game booze

Agree. It takes time to befriend Lebron and gain his trust. By default he trusts only his close friends and long time associates, and if you are not one of them, then you are out. So Lebron didn't trust Blatt because he didn't know him, even though he is a good coach, but did trust Damon Jones, Mike Miller and James Jones even though they didn't perform well according to more objective standards.

LeBron: "Your arrogance is your weakness"

Riley: "Your faith in your friends is yours"

Then I guess you have to take Magic out of the conversation, because he was often suspect in this regard, too.

And LeBron has been a very fine mid range shooter for a good portion of his career.

Great like Kobe and Michael? No, but very good, last year it was just pretty blah, and in the post season it was horrific.

It's disturbing he will only work with Damon fuckin' Jones, the once proclaimed greatest shooter in the world. Who was nothing but a spot up shooter in his career.

As much as I dislike Damon Jones. Why are we overreacting because he's not "working with the coaches in the summer"

LeBron usually has prior engagements setup and in different places. Its why he has a "personal coach" with him while he visits so many spots.

And while those poor #s posted are nice for the aha moment of "see he needs to be with us"

The circumstances of the team during this post season run is why he shot so poor. He played huge minutes these playoffs. He ball handled more in Cleveland these playoffs than he's done the last 4 years in Miami.

First round against Boston he shot the best of the playoffs? Why less LeISO, and we had a healthy Kyrie/Kevin.

Second round we lost Kevin Love, and Kyrie was banged up. A physical Bulls defense took a lot of energy out of him. So he settled for a lot of poor jumpers.

CF against the Hawks more ball handling duties because of no Kyrie. He's start shooting well in the first half and tire down in the 2nd half.

Finals against the Warriors it would be the same thing. His % was decent the first game with Kyrie. Last 5 involved more ball handling and with JR struggling it didnt really open up the floor for him.

As stated if he's exerted more energy than yes his jumper is going to be off.

People caught up with crappy shooting #s because of a lack of Kevin Love and Kyrie. He compensated by averaging 11 rebounds and 8 assists.

He had his best shooting season of his career his last year in Miami. That was more because of the comfort he had on the floor than anything else. As the team continues to figure out each other we wont have to worry about his jumper. Because he wont be doing LeISO as much.

I'm not positive, but I'd bet that they win against GS if LBJ shot jumpers at his career average.

You're not going to shoot your career averages when you're playing more mins, have more ball handling responsibilities and have to be the leader rebounder on the team.

LeBron's inflated averages in Miami had to do with comfort on the floor. He really only took the best shot possible. Not as much dribble, dribble, dribble fire up shots. He trusted his teammates. I think he's going to start trusting guys now. But in fairness to him who could he trust in the finals with no Kyrie and Love?

As far as his overall % was so high because he leaked out for easy baskets.

Still think he averages 24/9/7 on 52% shooting this year.

Why do people always say pfs take more of a beating when it's perimeter players that get affect by age more because they lose their speed and athleticism.. But big men don't lose their height and size with age. Just look at how well Malone, Duncan, dirk, kg, etc aged. They seem to get less injuries as well.

Valid point. Now some players like Ray Allen or Vince Carter have retained value later in life too, but they are both shooters later in life.

I always thought Lebron would morf into a pf as he aged, i was just hoping to keep him as a 90% of the time sf for a few more years.

But at pf, especially next to Mozgove to protect the rim, he is an unguardable beast.

That 9 is way to high if it is rebs or assists. I dont think he will get more than 7 assists or rebounds. Shump is a good passing sg, and Irving will get 5 or 6 dimes a game too. As for rebs, our 3 headed monster at bigs all are good to great rebounding bigs.

He's been putting less effort on the boards throughout this whole season. Averaged the lowest RPG since his rookie year.
Also doubt he will get 9 APG, since his career high is 8.6 APG in 2009-2010, and that was the only season he averaged more than 8.

So I can't see how he averages such a high number either in assists or rebounds.
His averages will probably look pretty similar to this season (25/7/6), probably even less rebounds.

Not that I think it's a very good stat at all, I think he had something crazy like the highest reb% on opportunities in the league.

That might not be exactlyle what it was, but it was profoundly good
