Let it all out. The Cavaliers Rant Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
If we're keeping Marion, Miller and TT who is going out in that trade? That's the biggest hurdle.

I think Denver is willing to blow their team up but Moz (4.65) and Afflalo (7.56) make 12.1 million combined.

We don't have the pieces to make that happen. We can absorb Mozgov with the trade exception but we don't have an asset that matches AA. We'd need a third team but we don't have much to offer, unless we're moving Waiters in a deal.

TT we almost have to hang on to at this point. We're so thin in the front court that it's hard for me to envision a scenario where we don't just end up overpaying the only young big we have that is worth a shit (relatively speaking). That really leaves Dion, Memphis pick and our trade exception as the only pieces we can realistically move this year.

I think I actually would prefer Wilson Chandler to AA. Here is another crazy thought.. I actually wouldn't mind getting Hickson back who does the exact same things as Thompson who is going to cost 1/2 the price next year. Even if you think Thompson is better, you can't deny they mostly look like clones out there.

I can't say what a trade with Denver would look like. It would most likely need a 3rd team, giving up Thompson and of course whatever other assets we got if we went the blockbuster route.

The scary thing is that going in with Kyrie and Love, you would think we can beat poor teams and hang with most good teams, but that's not the case. Either that says so much about our lack of size and athleticism or it says that it would be tough to build a title contender around these two without a James. I'm thinking the former. With a defensive CENTER, and a 3 and D guy, the team would look much, much different and would be able to win games even without LeBron. Right now, there's just nowhere to go for a win, no path to a win. Not through defense (perimeter or interior), not through an efficient offense, not through rebounding, not through athleticism, not through role players. All we have is hoping that Irving and Love put up 65 points efficiently, hope the other team misses and sqeak out a win. There seems to be NO hope against any good team. Thinking we go .500 without James in this stretch is lunacy.

I'll continue to say this over and over again: This team has so many holes. So many weaknesses. LeBron, even given some of his poor performances by his standards, was shadowing these issues while he was still on. And while the murmurs were there (out-rebounded some nights, struggling on the inside, low shooting percentages etc), we're now seeing how exposed we are with the losses of both Andy and LBJ.

There's probably a good reason now why even with LeBron, our team has looked to struggle all season long and seems to be continuously battling uphill. We have too many thorns, wasted roster spots and mediocre players on this roster. Couple that with the demand of 3 max contracts and our long-term future is looking pretty bleak to say the least.

With all due respect to Marion, Miller & Jones, these are the kinds of guys we're going to have to come to rely on when LBJ, Love & Irving make max money - guys that are past their prime at a number of areas of the game of basketball and won't be able to provide enough of a plug to conceal glaring holes in both our offensive and defensive sets.

I think the major concern at this point is assessing where the issues exist - is it our depth, a lack of chemistry between LBJ, Love & Irving, a number of one-way players who don't balance their contributions or a combination of all of the above?

Some big decisions are going to have to be made over the next few months. IMO, Dion is absolutely on his way out. But at this point, given our assets (or lack of), what I've seen out of our key 3 guys and the value of vet minimums as per this season, I'm going to do my best to re-align my expectations for the future. This team is not a lock for a championship, especially when you see the way other teams are coming together and are performing.

After what seemed like 4 long years, we still have an even longer way to go.

I wish it was possible for us to make a trade for Jeff Green he would bring athleticism off the bench and can score the ball consistently and he is young. He is on Celtics team currently in tank mode and they just gave up Rondo for Brandon Wright and Jameer Nelson.

This team is mentally weak and fragile just like Lebron said. I know most hate some of the stuff he said through out the season but he was right. NBAtv (Brent Berry) just did a highlight of our defense vs Dallas. We aren't even putting up resistance on defense we aren't even making the basic rotations or digging in to put in effort. Its like the team is just happy to collect their check and live their lifestyle. It needs to be a major shake up some how. Our team currently has no sense of pride when they go out their and compete. They have given up on somebody whether its themselves the coaching staff or teammates, but its pretty obvious now injuries or no injuries.

If we wanted to fill the holes on this team it would make a lot of sense. Green starting next to Lebron would make us an above average team defensively on the perimeter. He also averages 18 ppg. I like his intangibles a lot.

The only way I see us landing him would be to trade Love. I would give him up to Boston for a handful of players, but I doubt its realistic.

Our front office will never admit to making a mistake acquiring Love that quickly. Better pray he doesn't walk or we will be screwed. Hell, we probably are already screwed

He is a free agent next year and Ainge is from the school of draft picks. He knows big time free agents aren't coming to Boston so he will have to draft well and build from within.

Looking at what Dallas has put together for a team is amazing. Our roster outside of big 3 is shit compared to them. I am a huge fan of the Cavs but I have to take a step back for a while until this embarrassing mess is sorted out.

I don't know--Green hasn't shown much defense this year and the Celts overall are average on defense. He was a neutral defender the two seasons before this one.

Ugh. Cleveland fans.

He is an athlete who can score and even Rondo admitted he hasn't played much defense in 2 years. When you are on a bad team you don't play lock down defense when you are in rebuilding mode.
