A problem with using the Haywood contract is that players want to play. If the Cavs bring in a guy with the Haywood contract and he just sits on the bench, it can be tough on the locker room. Not everyone in the NBA is happy sitting on the bench if they think they could be playing on a team somewhere else.
My guess is that the Cavs won't use the Haywood contract if the 8 current rotation players + Love & Varejao all come back. Just won't be playing time to add anyone.
But if any of the current rotation player leaves, you can bet that the Cavs will start making extra phone calls.
