Hey fellas, some of you know and don't know that the poster "mynameisDavid" is my little 13 year old brother, he's been posting a little here and there, and I understand he's a little annoying but weren't we all at 13?

Anyway he plays OL in 8th grade football and yesterday his RB put his head down and put his helmet into my brothers back during a run and he went down and didn't get up.

They put him on a stretcher and took him to a nearby hospital, and they transferred him to Rainbow Baby and Childrens Hospital where he's been since last night. They've done a few X-Rays Catscans and MRI's but still no word on anything yet.

I talked to him and he said he felt alright it's just he couldn't feel or move his right side. It's pretty scary, and I'm hoping it's something small like a spinal bruise and that the feelings come back.

If you guys could keep him in your thoughts it'd be much appreciated, I'll update you guys when I can, I appreciate it.

My prayers and thoughts are with him and your family. I hope for a speedy recovery.

Sorry cdt, we'll all hope for the best for your little bro.

Damn, hate to hear about any fellow RCF'ers goin down for the count. Luckily he is young and will likely pull through it with no long term effects. I took a few of those hits as a young Splitz.

I hope the best, just hope your parents stay all over those doctors and make them earn that pay check.

Im praying for him. Update us as soon as possible on any good news.

David and your entire family will be in my prayers. I'll have the kids pray for him at bedtime too. Hang in there.

Appreciate that Max...and everyone else as well.

Last I heard they were doing some more X-Rays and they were going to move him from ICU to a normal room...I'll keep everyone posted...it's extremely slow moving, I mean this happened around this time yesterday and we don't know anymore than we did at that point. :thumbdown

Man. I am sorry to hear that. Best of luck to him.

Tell him that I can't wait to give him some more shit when he get back on here. ;)

Alright my mom just called, they got the X-Ray results back and said that during the hit his head snapped back and that resulted in a popped vertebrae in the left part of his neck. They said he also suffered a spinal concussion, that it's very swollen and that's likely the reason he has little no no feeling on his right side.

Other than that they said they're keeping him for a little bit, probably 4 or 5 days I'd guess, he won't be allowed to do any physical activity for 3 months, which means football season and basketball season are over :thumbdown

But luckily he should make a full recovery and be back out there next year, again I appreciate all the support and the kind words from you guys, it means a lot.

Thanks

Do they have wireless at Rainbow Babies & Children's?

I'm glad to hear they'll be no long term effect...

This is the reason my aunt won't let me enroll my cousin in Football :(

My Thoughts & Prayers are with your family...

I'm actually at home right now, I'm waiting here so my dad and I can go pickup his truck, it's still at the football field around the corner.

My parents are staying at Rainbow with my brother...

Injuries can happen at any time, in any sport, I don't believe in preventing your children from playing ever, IMO that's worse than getting injured. David's grades were always below average until he got into football, since he started they've never been better. He used to get in fights constantly, but he hasn't since he started playing. In high school it's a great way to meet people and get into a good college. You can get seriously injured doing a number of things. You just have to take necessary precautions and hope for the best.
