Manny Harris

Re: Manny Harris signed to 10-day contract

He was gaining interest from the Knicks and probably some other teams as well, that might play into why we picked him up a biiit earlier than we wanted to..

I sat next to and talked to the Knicks exec in Canton when they were scouting him, Lin's first decent night in NY, he turned to me and said, "welp guess my job is done here, no way coaching staff with agree to not hold on to this kid" -- guess it worked out for him

Re: Manny Harris signed to 10-day contract

Manny's shooting numbers have looked great this year.

FG % - .470. ---- For a 20+ PPG scorer, even in the D-League, that's a nice number. Well up from a 37% FG percentage last year.
Granted this is D-League and not the NBA but it is at least a positive sign, even if its a small one.

3PT% - .409 ---- Nice to see him shooting well from 3, and on a solid number of attempts (44). Cleveland could certainly
use a reliable outside shooter.

I don't expect Manny to set the world on fire but I do expect him to play well.

I'd be surprised if he stuck in CLE for the remainder of the season but I do think he'll end up on an NBA roster to end the year.

As I watched him in Canton, what stuck out to me was his improved mid range jumper and three point accuracy, granted I did not see him at scUM but he was knocking down jumpers and contested jumpers with consistency, something obviously this team needs

Re: Manny Harris signed to 10-day contract

The big question is will any of it convey to the NBA?

Manny is 57th in the NBADL in 3pt%, and that includes Harangody #29, and Mychel Thompson #9.

I'd like to think his game will translate well because of his performance last season. He had some very nice games, so he understands that he can ball at this level. He put the work in to improve his jumpshot and ball handling; I'm interested to see if he can keep the efficiency up. We know he can and will score if given minutes, but can he do it within the team concept and with good %'s like he did in Canton?

I hope he gets his shot.

Re: Manny Harris signed to 10-day contract

I look at his vastly improved FT% as evidence that he's improved his shooting. That suggests that there will be some improvement in his overall shooting, perhaps not as much as he showed in the D-League. I look forward to him getting playing time to see how much carries over.

Re: Manny Harris signed to 10-day contract

How are his turnovers? It's not his shooting that bothered me last year, it was his turnovers. He seemed to dribble the ball off his foot at least once per game.

Around 3 per game. He was 2.4 per 36 for the Cavs last season, but obviously not at the same usage level.

Re: Manny Harris signed to 10-day contract

He was not a good passer last year. Maybe willing, but not execution-wise. So making him play PG for a while before putting him at SG seems to make sense for his development. Work on weaknesses and whatnot. A scoring role should be a more natural look for him, not that we shouldn't need him to pass well.

Wait, he is coming in as a SG, correct?

If Sessions is traded soon, will it be Manny that backs up Irving for 10-15 mins a game?

Boobie would be the more logical choice as backup PG, imo. I really don't see Manny as a PG, excpet maybe in a pinch.

Re: Manny Harris signed to 10-day contract

Boobie is not a great ball-handler, but he is much better at it than Manny. Boobs will be the backup PG if Sessions goes unless we get a PG back or make another move...

ehh, Boobie might be a better ball handler, but Manny is far better at creating off the dribble, which Boobie is awful at. That said, I don't want either of them playing more than spot duty at PG.

Re: Manny Harris signed to 10-day contract

I could see them bringing back Uzoh. Scott spoke highly of him while with the team. If we trade Sessions for a draft pick we will have a spot for Uzoh.

Re: Manny Harris signed to 10-day contract

can't wait to see him play

Re: Manny Harris signed to 10-day contract

Really missing the boat by sticking to Manny. Should go by L'Adorable.
