Mike wilks and Luke for Banks and Justin Reed. It is a minor trade, and is not something that will make or break us, but with Pavs playing very well, luke is redundant and its time to look at another rookie. There might be some better players we can get instead of Reed, like McCants, or similar. Minnesota is pretty screwed up at the moment. It would also be possible to package henderson or newble and luke for Banks and something better, but I am not sure what woudl work for us out of that squad.

I heard his name mentioned earlier this season and for Luke, I wouldn't mind it.

Willoughby News-Herald

The Cavaliers are on the prowl for a point guard, with Timberwolves guard Marcus Banks a possibility.

Minneapolis Star Tribune

A Tacoma, Wash., newspaper reported that the Wolves might be talking with Seattle about forward Reggie Evans and shooting guard Ronald (Flip) Murray, with newly acquired point guard Marcus Banks as the possible trade bait.

Banks is not enough to get Murray and Evans. Also is there some limit on when Banks could be traded again?

I think limits only apply if they let him go and he wanted to go back to the Celtics. I'm not sure though.

You're right blackmagic. Minnesota has the option to trade him whenever they like except back to Boston. He could have been traded the same day they got him.

With all the guards at Minne and all of the centers at Seattle, you would think a deal would be all but done. Maybe it is wishful thinking, but a trade where we wound up with one of Seattles centers and Banks, for Jones & Luke would be terrific.

Banks is interesting because of his athleticism. A ball hawk on defense, with incredible speed and physically very strong to boot. He's a great athlete. Some people swear by him and say with proper development, he'll be solid. But others say Banks is a headcase, an athletic freak with no basketball IQ and a poor attitude. Who knows.

man i would really like to get my hands on this kid but i really dont want to give up Damon to get him, i cant believe i just said that, but he is starting to come around and this kid Banks is still a somewhat of an unknown, I think he has great potential but im not ready to hand him the #2 pg spot just yet....a combination of wilks Luke and somehow if Ferry could get newble in there to land us Potapenko and Banks, well thats wishful thinking, but somehow get this kid to cleveland without trading damon or drew

I think banks is quite nice too, however with the emergence of sasha it would be tough to find this guy burn if we still had damon on our roster. I think a three way with seatle would be needed.

I think under the rules Banks can only be traded again in a 1 for 1 deal since he was just traded. Not 100% sure on that.

Banks is a good defender, has shown some offensive ability and does have good raw talent. He's been inconsistent though and hasn't shown he is a true PG but maybe more of a combo G.
I would like to take a chance on him if I were the Cavs even though he's a FA after the season. The Cavs need to take a shot on a young PG or 2 to possibly find a better long term solution there.

A Luke Jackson for Banks trade does work. I like Luke but I don't think there's room for both he and Sasha.

I agree Narl. Luke is redundant with the emergence of Sasha. I haven't seen Banks play enough to have a good read on him, but my recollection is that he's a good defender with average handling and shooting skills. I like guys off the bench who can play at either guard spot. I don't know if he's a long-term player, but the same goes for Jackson.

Banks strengths are our other point guards weaknesses. Banks is super quick so can defend quicker guards. Marcus has been know for his solid defense. Banks is a good penetrator, a skillset that neither Snow or Jones possess. His shooting is erratic though, and his decision making is questionable. Combine the 3 point guards and you have Jason Kidd a few years back. Ok back to reality......

Jackson for Banks does make sense, and if Marcus does get a reasonable opportunity here, resigning him for a modest amount should be attainable.

i am actually a fan of banks.a very very solid defender and was coming into his own as a pg before rivers got there.

Damon Jones is not going anywhere. I like him now more than ever. He makes good passes and been shooting very nicely off the pick-and-pops. He still has the 3 pointer in his aresenal but that isn't the only thing he is doing now, which is great. He is a better basketball player than I think any of us gave him credit for.

As sad as it is, Luke just isn't doing anything here. Sasha has proved me wrong and really seems to be the best canidate to stay here. I think Luke CAN play, but we just don't need him even if can. Send him somewhere where he can actually get pt. Banks is worth the risk. If he is bust here there is no harm to us. We still have Snow, Jones and Wilks. If he pans out, Wilks won't be seeing any pt again.
