Mass Effect 3

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Not sure how true this is, but it's a rumor related to the game so I figured I may as well post it. SPOILERS:

RUMOR: Mass Effect 3 DLC ‘The Truth’ Due In April.

Mass Effect 3 Spoilers below. Read at your own risk.

Though an increasing number of fans are demanding significant changes, BioWare hasn’t offered up much in the way of comment about the the ongoing controversy over the end of Mass Effect 3. The closest they’ve come is an interview yesterday with Digital Trends, in which Casey Hudson appeared to rule out any change. Sorry guys.

Or did he? Yesterday, an image featuring what appears to be brand new classes for ME3 multiplayer made the online rounds. The story was that these classes would be unlocked in some upcoming DLC. Today however, Polish site CD-Action has posted what is claimed to be the full version of that graphic. The original graphic, seen at the top of this page, only seemed to indicate that it was associated with multiplayer. An anonymous poster has added additional commentary on the image that not only purports to clarify what happened with ME3′s ending, but makes almost unbelievable claims about BioWare’s DLC strategy.

The ending was half-assed because of the leak. They changed it at the last minute so they could have more time to prepare the real ending via DLC.

It’s called The Truth and it’s being released in April or May. You WILL be able to continue the story if you picked any of the endings. Your decision during that sequence will have a big effect on your ending of The Truth. The Truth adds two new sets of enemies, new classes, and multiplayer maps including “Firebase Hive”, which is a small area of the last remaining collector ship included in the DLC, which, by the way you should definitely bring Javik the Prothean along if you have him.

The picture here shows some of the leaked multiplayer classes and races. One race that isn’t shown is the Prothean Adept and Vanguard. This DLC also enables the ability for owners of the preorder and From Ashes DLC to find their DLC weapons in reinforcement packs.

All that content, and this might as well be labeled an expansion pack.

And it’s free.

You’re welcome.

I won’t deny I will hold out a tiny grain of hope that BioWare might fix the ending. The claim here that it was rushed out at the last minute, due to outcry over the leaked script, fits the wretched aesthetics and lack of clarity. If this turns out to be true, BioWare might manage win the love of players for all time. But of course, this is almost certainly bullshepard, most likely just some troll having fun messing with disgruntled fans by pretending to be a BioWare insider. I would expect BioWare to explicitly deny this rumor sometime soon.

Here is the image in question:

Two of the new classes appear to be the Asari Justicar and the Krogan Battlemaster. Also, the Batarians make their debut as a playable race, as do the Geth.

I really, really hope this is what we're getting and it's not just some major troll job. I doubt it will be free if we do get it, though.

Meh. I'm unconvinced. Saw this rumor a few weeks ago.

Bitch loud enough, Bioware listens.

An official press release went out today announcing how we are re-prioritizing the Mass Effect 3 post release content schedule to provide a more fleshed out experience for our fans. For many of you the “Extended Cut” will help answer some questions and give closure to this chapter of the Mass Effect story. Oh and it’s at no cost to you – the fan.

Here is a mini FAQ to help you understand what the Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut is and isn’t:

What can fans expect from the Extended Cut DLC?
For fans who want more closure in Mass Effect 3, the DLC will offer extended scenes that provide additional context and deeper insight to the conclusion of Commander Shepard’s journey.
Are there going to be more/different endings or ending DLCs in the future?
No. BioWare strongly believes in the team’s artistic vision for the end of this arc of the Mass Effect franchise. The extended cut DLC will expand on the existing endings, but no further ending DLC is planned.
What is BioWare adding to the ending with the Extended Cut DLC?
BioWare will expanding on the ending to Mass Effect 3 by creating additional cinematics and epilogue scenes to the existing ending sequences. The goal of these new scenes is to provide additional clarity and closure to Mass Effect 3.
When will the Extended Cut DLC be available?
Currently the Extended Cut DLC is planned for this summer, no specific date has been announced at this point.
Why are you releasing the Extended Cut DLC?
Though we remain committed and are proud of the artistic choices we made in the main game, we are aware that there are some fans who would like more closure to Mass Effect 3. The goal of the DLC is not to provide a new ending to the game, rather to offer fans additional context and answers to the end of Commander Shepard’s story.
So there you have it. Are we proud of the game we made and the team that made it? Hell yes. Are we going to change the ending of the game? No. Do we appreciate the passion and listen to the feedback delivered to us by our fans? Very much so and we are responding.

Summer is coming…

YAY!

I don't even understand what this content will consist of... they are speaking in smoke and mirrors.

I think it just means that the endings are going to be the same, but longer and with more scenes, dialogue, and post-credits cinematics.

That's fine with me I guess. Galactic civilization still set back thousands of years is kinda retarded, and no Reapers Win ending sucks, but whatever.

So much for that indoctrination theory. Insane the amount of evidence they had, but it doesn't surprise me that it wasn't right. Too complex for a video game company like EA/Bioware.

I think there is a Reapers Win ending if your Effective Military Readiness is below 1700 or something like that... basically, no additional war assets and a low Galactic Readiness.

This game, sadly, is just another example of EA/Bioware and not just Bioware. I wish EA would disintegrate.

Nope, trust me, there isn't one.

I'm pretty shocked that the Indoctrination Theory is probably completely false. It made so much sense. :chuckles:

Guys, they didn't say that the indoctrination theory was wrong. Just that there would be further scenes to explain the ending.

Don't forget the ending after the credits where the grandpa is telling the kid about "The Shepard" and he asks for another story about him. And grandpa says okay.

They set up an easy walk-in to DLC with that scene.

Also, after the perfect "Red ending" there's a scene of Shepard waking up in rubble. They could easily add a couple of cutscenes showing how he finishes the battle after that.

See, I always saw that scene as Shepard is waking up from Indoctrination. He's waking up where that blast happens at the end. The one where they see "no one making it to the spire" but yet Shepard makes it up to the Citadel.

I look at everything from that blast to the ending being all in his head.

I'm glad they stood their ground against the hordes of whiny little bitches that didn't like the original endings by not offering any new ones, at least. Don't like it? Don't fucking play it, then.

The endings suck dick man. They are full of plot holes. Your choices mean nothing, every option if basically the same. A few cutscenes does nothing to fix that. Fuck Bioware
