Matthew Dellavedova

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Per NBA.com

Delly is shooting 48-126 from 3 (38.1%)

whenever he has over 6 ft of space ( what they defined wide open as )

31-73 (42.5%) this accounts for 56% of all his 3's

And all the other ones less than 6 feet, he's shooting 17-53 (32.1%) this accounts for 44%

So delly hasn't sucked as a shooter as of late because his percentage was pretty low and it seems to have recovered nicely.

I went back and re watched the Orlando game. The Cavs just seemed too tired against Miami to get anything out of it.

Delly looked really good early on, then in the second half he missed some shots while the Magic started calling Iso plays against Delly with superior athletes like Oladipo. The key to the Iso plays were clear outs at the last minute by Channing Frye, pulling away the help defense as a decoy. This seemed to rattle Delly and his head seemed to get out of looking for his own shot, leading to Ridnour abandoning Delly on the outside.

I think Delly is still adjusting to being more of a shooting guard than point guard. Even if he gets burned one on one in an iso - which is clearly his defensive weakness - he needs to come right back and be aggressive on offense. He has lost a bit of the mental edge he had early in the season. Time to get it back, even if he is technically playing a different role.

At least when Delly is about to get burned, I've noticed he is often heads-up enough to get a "good foul" to stop the drive +1.

As Charles B noted Delly does do the small things like box out *all* the time.

I'm a little fuzzy on your %s, but it's obvious he's more effective with that shove shot when yes, he has enough room to maneuver. Delly would have more room to shoot by putting another pure scorer with him off the bench. That scorer/shooter is JR Smith. He's got the quick release to mask Delly's weaknesses as a shooter. Shumpert's shot keeps improving, but it's not the threat JR's is. Could totally change the offensive threat level of our bench unit.

Kypus said:
JR's skillset plays individually to our bench players strengths: (Delly/JR/LBJ/Jones->Marion/Tristan)
- Delly would have an immediate pressure valve to pass to, relieving how much teams can pressure the ball. JR has a quick release and gets in position at or 2 steps inside the 3pt line. This would also allow Delly to get his "shove shot" working as a surprise move, rather than relying on it 4-5x a game.

he had a good game today that's probably why.

he does all the little things, the main thing that frustrates me is when he takes those inside floaters or tries a layup, not sure what the exact stat is but i think he's up there with being one of the worst finishers close to/at the rim.

its sad that even ATL third string PG (S Mack) is better than our backup.
i don't mind him on the team, but as a third string PG next season.

Wow...damned with faint praise indeed...but you are correct, from close he is crap...which is hard to understand...but from 3 he is as good as we have...

Delly is so White.

For what it's worth, that super overjoyous white boy thumbs up and cheesy grin is just what we Australian's do when in Cleveland. For example, see exhibit A:

Exhibit A: (On left) Delly gives the Australian cheese-ball thumbs up and grin on a plane back to Cleveland on (on right) Simmy gives the Australian cheese-ball thumbs up and grin at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland.

So, basically:

*sigh*
So a guy on near minimum salary plays 25 minutes, 60% from 3pt land and has a +24 for the game and he's still 'no good'.
Admittedly we don't have all of the 'chicken little my eyes' basketball analysis, but then strident whining at this point would make you look like a real putz.

If you're referring to the part where I was dissecting him about the layups/floaters, that was talking in general, not about THIS game as you're referring to.

I admitted he had a good game, but said THAT was the reason no one was talking about him. no one actually said he was 'no good' in the BKN game.

he distributed the ball and played pestering D as usual.
he took more FGA's outside the 3pt line than inside which is what he's best at. good sign
