Matthew Dellavedova

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I bashed him a lot during regular season, he just wasn't playing well enough for a backup PG IMO. But actually this was more on Griffin than on him, because the guy never lacked effort.

But right now I'm astonished by the way he's playing. He's much better than in regular season.

Look at the number of assists he's having in this series. He's passing the ball really well, seems completely meshed with the rest of the team and is hitting occasionally big shots. He's actually showing more confidence than during regular season. I'm pleased to see he has a good ability to pass and find the open man.

There are some players who shrink at playoffs, there are players who grow. He looks like the 2nd type right now. If he keeps this up, backup PG could no longer be a priority for next season.

Well done Della, hope he keeps it up. It's been so big with all these injuries.

He is literally doing the same thing he did in the regular season in the playoffs. Nearly identical PPG, APG, PER, FG%, 3FG%, WS/48, ORtg and DRtg, and Assist to turnover ratio.

Same thing I said with Tristan, it is amazing how much more fans appreciate you when you do the same things when there is more on the line than a regular season win. Big reason why a few people in here said Delly is going to be awesome in the playoffs.

Tonight, Delly was the hero we needed, not the one we deserved.

It's so awesome to see that the Delly haters have been forced into the shadows!

Does anyone have stats for how Delly fared while guarding D Rose? Just curious. I was thinking that was the reason that Blatt left him in there at the end over JR.

The game tends to slow down in the postseason, and most numbers go down. The guys who can stay producing at the same level are, relatively speaking, playing better.

I think Lebron is a lot closer with these guys than he was with his Heat teammates.

His relationship with Wade always seemed a bit strained even. The way he interacts with Kyrie is awesome.

And he clearly loves Delly. Everyone does. He's like that kid in high school who wasn't really exceptional in any area, kinda quiet, but got along with everyone and was always the most fun to get drunk with at a party.

W/ LeBron and Wade, you had 2 Alpha Dogs who were never really comfortable deferring to the other guy, no matter how good friends they are. Totally understandable. Here, especially w/ Kyrie, LeBron is the leader and clearly loves passing on his knowledge and mentoring as much as leading, and it's wonderous to see.

True, I also think the momentum changing plays are far more magnified in the playoffs as well, and that's what role players like Delly and Tristan usually provide, which is why some of their "haters" are coming around on them. When the game slows, and the possessions become fewer and farther between, a play that saves and regains a possession (an offensive rebound) or one that gives you an extra possession while taking one form the opponent (drawing a charge or a moving screen) becomes more amplified than it does in the regular season. Delly is playing no different than he did in the regular season, just what he provides in the regular season is far more important in the post season.

I do think he improved.

Example: His 3pt FG is good. But in regular season, I remember him missing a lot of open 3 pointers that actually mattered, at important moments of the game. He used to make lots of them in garbage time.

On these playoffs, he's constantly hitting 3 points at crucial times. He hit one today, at the end of the 1st quarter.

Also, based only on eye test, I have a feeling he's finding open guys at more ease than during the regular season. And he does seem to be more confident.

Also this perception is due to an injured Kyrie. When he replaced Kyrie in the regular season the level dropped instantly. But now, with Kyrie injured, he's actually improving the team going in. I don't remember seeing that a lot in the regular season. Also silly mistakes are reduced.

Taj Gison is a bitch. I noticed him giving Delly a forearm shiver Game 3 and recorded it, this coming after Delly smartly put a body on the first guy he saw.

There's what, four personal fouls in a span of two seconds there? You'd never guess it, but they all went uncalled!

Here's hoping Gibson gets suspended for the rest of the series, that piece of shit.

Easy way to differentiate Delly from Olynynk. ..

Rodman and Malone had a famous foot tangle up in the playoffs, a few fouls were thrown around. They are both in the Hall of Fame. Nobody thinks of them as anything less than competitive.

Olynynk tore Love's arm out of his socket. He is also a gigantic ass pussy. Delly annoyed Gibson, but the leg lock couldn't have caused major injury. And his butthole is for pooping rather than the sexual pleasure of other men.

Hope this explanation helps.

Did I miss something? How did buttholes cum to light? Other than Taj looking like a shaved butthole. Did you see him push Delly to the floor 3 or 4 plays prior to that hole debacle?

Also, that is highly subjective and a few fruitcakes here would disagree.

I was wrong about Delly. He may not be a consistent regular season player but fuck me, this guy is someone you want on your playoff roster when refs allow tough physical play to go on. The only thing he needs to do is scream in Noah's face rofl. That would be the ultimate basketball troll move.

Dellys greatest strength is he treats all players equally. He will foul all players in the open court he will box out anyone near him and force them to push him over. He just is a basketball playing robot that tries to make the right defensive play every time.

Helps that his first sport was Aussie rules where decapitation is only a minor infraction of the rules.
