Matthew Dellavedova

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Love Delly. Media kicking dirt on him for playing hard.

Anyone who has ever played organized ball understands why the Hawks hate him. I still play weekly and always want to murder the kid that stays in my grill the entire game. However, immediately after the game he's the first guy I walk up to and give props to for the tough defense.

Hawks are cowards for not changing their tunes after viewing the tape. Say it was a heat of the moment thing and move on. Don't pretend he went after your legs, Al. Not a good look.

And shame on Reggie & C Webb.

I think that Chicago series really brought them even closer together.
No doubt about it. That series will be forgotten years from now by most people, but that was a war despite the way they sort of gave in at the end. We were a LeBron buzzer-beater away from being down 3-1 and they play a brand of basketball -- when totally healthy -- that will either bring your team closer or break them. Luckily, this unit bonded even tighter.

If Chicago had been on ATL's side of the bracket, there's no doubt in my mind the Bulls would have broken them ... and they'd go out whining about how physical Chicago plays the game.

I am rewatching the game and i really liked the part where Bazemore lowered his shoulder on a screen and a foul was called and Reggie said Delly was acting because Bazemore was only 190lbs. I guess he never seen a cornerback lay out a tight end in football..The hate anymore doesnt bother me i love it and think its funny

Seriously inspiring to see LBJ play the leadership role on this team. Clearly loves his teammates, and was pretty protective of Delly after this incident.

Not sure I've ever seen a closer bunch of guys, and its particularly impressive because of how short a time they've been together.
You bond in pain. Losing Love in the way they lost him was HUGE pain. I also have to believe Blatt is a huge part of this too.

This squad may not have been that close before playoffs but this playoffs has been a huge bonding experience. Example is Tristian. There is no way in hell people respected TT as much as they do now before the playoffs started.

How about ABC never saying the Olynyk play was dirty even tho it clearly was but as soon as Delly falls down, he's a dirty player lol

People gotta realize that the world hates Cleveland

i think i got someone on realgm to waste his day tomorrow drawing free body diagrams of the delly/horford incident

granted it doesn't say much for me since i am up at 4 am instigating him...oh well i took a nice long nap today

Listening to Reggie Miller, Chris Webber and Kenny Smith kick dirt all over Delly, to the point where Miller and Webber actually laughed when Delly was (intentionally) kneed in the face in a loose ball situation later in the game, had me thoroughly disgusted. I do not understand what these guys are looking at.

Anyone have a video of that?

Kinda sick of Atlanta's 'holier than thou' attitude towards this issue tonight. This wasn't anything close to dirty but I guess they need an excuse for Horford losing his cool and why they're down 3-0. Delly has a track record? Of what? Diving for loose balls? They're literally getting out-competed by LeBron James and the Cavs 'B' squad. Grow up, Atlanta.

Just goes to show how much real estate Delly owns in Atlanta's mind right now. Kinda funny considering we have a LeBron James, a dozen Knicks throwaways and two hurt super stars on the roster.....

I saw that play and had no idea wtf Regina Miller was talking about. Bazemore was leaning and had his elbow out and he made contact with Delly. Clearly a foul so I dunno what Regina was whining about. Could it be that Bazemore is a scrub and a guard that rarely sets screens and he just fucked it up that time? My goodness Regina, you're twin sister must be ashamed of you. At least you got your grill somewhat fixed you ignorant bolo head cousin of Sam Cassel.

In the excitement we are missing a review of his performance.

People are asking: "Why is everyone in the media going in on Delly so hard?" Kizzle touched on it in post #2703 of this thread (above on this same page): everyone hates Cleveland. Or to be more specific, many hate LeBron. So this isn't even about Delly, it's about LeBron. And it's not about this series, it's about the next series. The people who are going all out to smear Delly now are thinking about the Finals, not the Eastern Conference Finals. Because the Eastern Conference Finals is essentially over.

Here's the bottom line: like Phil Jackson might have done in his time as a coach, those who dislike LeBron and Cleveland are trying to frame Delly as a "dirty player" before the Finals. Why would they do that? Because they want to get in the refs' heads and help Steph Curry and the Warriors all they can.

Delly has a huge impact on our defense (as PriceFTW helpfully pointed out in stats the other day here). He's had a major effect in the playoffs. He's our best defensive point guard. He's a guy that could possibly be important in the Finals and help slow down or offset Curry.

If you hate LeBron and Cleveland, you don't want Cleveland to win the Finals. So you start to plant the seed now that Delly is "dirty" so that he can't even breathe on Curry (or anyone else) in the Finals or else he's getting a foul, or worse.

This is mind games. Much of it is deliberate, too. Not all of it, but a lot of it.

Reggie Miller and Webber will just say dumb things. I don't think either one of them is a big Cleveland hater. They just want controversy and drama, because it's good for ratings.

Kenny Smith is a punk. He has never really liked LeBron, and I'm sure he would love to try to sabotage LeBron's chances in the Finals by having golden boy Curry get even more help from the refs when our best point guard defender, Delly, is assigned to him.

Anyone with an objective brain knows Delly isn't a dirty player. He's just an effort player who has to go all out on every possession just to stay in the league. And opponents get tired of it, just like they got tired of it when defensive hawk Avery Bradley would go all out on defense all game and disrupt opposing point guards' dribbles.

The Hawks are soft and mentally done. They are just looking for excuses as to why they're about to get swept. I don't even care what they think. LeBron basically said in the postgame that the Hawks are focusing on the wrong thing by talking about Delly. In other words, the Hawks' minds are basically already coming up with reasons why they are losing and about to lose.

The people who bother me are people like Kenny Smith, people who know what they're doing and who are trying to affect the narrative and potentially the refs in the Finals by talking this nonsense.

It doesn't matter. It might cost us a call or two in the Finals, but Delly isn't going to change a thing. Lebron went completely out of his way in the postgame to let the media know that "you're not doing this to Delly; and if you try to do it, I'm going to start bringing up plays like the Antic two handed shove on me while I was in the air in this series."

People who can't win or who aren't in the battle will often resort to arguing about how the winners are cheaters or dishonorable when they, the observers or losers, don't like the outcome of the competition. The Hawks are almost gone, we're going to the Finals and Kenny Smith and the rest of the haters can suck it.

Blatt, Delly, Lebron and Cleveland have got this.

Kenny Smith, just keep hating. And keep trying to convince yourself that your reality show isn't a ratings joke.

Pretty much had it with Jason Lloyd too. A thinly disguised justification of a character assassination. Everything before the "but" means nothing Jason. The guy plays hard but fairly, there are no buts. Isn't this guy a local journo?. There will be enough national and Atlanta based fools pushing the dirty player agenda without you helping.
