Matthew Dellavedova

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
He better be gone after this year. We need someone who can score off the bench, smith is too inconsistent, a PG who can run and offense and score is ideal and Delly cant do either.
Horrible post whats the point in having an offensive minded backup when you already have Kyrie.

We tried that before with Jarret Jack and obviously that went awesomely.

I think you guys forget how good the rest of the team looks with a full roster.

You think all those Warriors players are getting open looks without the gravity of the Splash Bros?

Delly did great, but he is what he is and even played beyond that for a stretch.

We need a PG that can run a offense and not turn the ball over. Out side of his hustle and ok defense he's the true definition of Tragic Bronson.

Wtf
We already have the point guard who can run the offense in Kyrie. Usually the backup is someone who complements the starter like Delly does with his defense .

Delly is a backup who is being judged unfairly due to the injuries the team has .

OK, first things first. There is finance in basketball. If we could replace him with someone with his energy and defence, that also has a scoring mindset, great. How much would that cost? Or what do we give up to get it?

Secondly, he's a second year player that did an outstanding job on the mvp all series, even when Steph went off. All of this while being run into the ground because we are missing 3 of our top 4 $ players this season (yes, not just 2 of 3). His offense wasn't good this series, but he did finish the lead with 4th best A:TO ratio, and 14th in 3P%. Give him some an off-season to work on one on one basketball, I am sure he will get better at creating his own shot, too.

He was the best ROI of any player on our roster (except lebron even at max $).

I hope we can keep him and replace a few veterans with better players with flexibility

because you need a back up PG to run an offense when Kyrie goes down who is injury prone, so we don't see this same crap again. Not hard to understand that. Don't mind him being a 3rd string PG.

Even after hitting the wall physically after game 3 Delly made himself a ton of money this post season.

Some team is going to pay him this off-season (hopefully us) for the hustle and defensive tenacity he brings to the table.

Look at the PG's he reasonably held his own with this post season. Anyone who thinks we can really upgrade the back-up PG beyond what Delly gives us is not being realistic.

Whoever backs up Kyrie needs to be a defense first PG, and that is Delly in spades.

You don't need a back up point guard to run the offence because ideally there wouldn't be minutes where both Kyrie and Lebron are off the floor.

Delly had to play 30+ mins against the MVP of the league in the finals, no back up in the league would succeed under those circumstances.

To me, delay never came back from the exhaustion at the end of game 3...which is understandable...he is a second year player, he played summer league, he played FIBA and he has played serious minutes in the playoffs...he was just gassed...the last 3 games do not do justice to how valuable he is for our team.

For all the posters looking for a scoring; creating; defensive-mided back-up PG...where the fuck do you expect to find one of those...who is also prepared to spend some serious time sitting on the bench. Those types of players want to play...not sit around Mike Miller style...and with a fit Kyrie playing 35 minutes plays per game, that is a recipe for locker room disaster...think Jack; Dion

I'd take Livingston back in a hurry.

Never wanted to stay.

Look you guys need to get all the anger out, go ahead, but we should remember the game plan was strong: Don't play Delly when you are down by 10+. He's a very good backup point guard when you have a slight lead, but Blatt put the ball in Shumpert's hands to create transition baskets in the 2nd and 3rd. It never happened.

Delly isn't meant to be a 35-40 minute player. He did a great job, especially against Chicago and in the early parts of the Finals.

The dude isn't very skilled at the game, but he hustles his ass off. I'll take him on this team next year without thinking twice.

Want a name of the type of dude you are looking for in a backup/third point guard? How about Leandro Barbosa. He impacted this series even in a situation without injury.

What was needed from the back-uppoint guard, as a hedge against Irving being injured (a predictable possibility), was ball-handling, scoring, passing; i.e. an offensive skill set. The GM obviously knew this, but for whatever reason, could not complete the transaction.

No hate here, he did everything else he needed to do. Ultimately, with hind sight, he probably would have rather had Will Bynum than Kendrick Perkins. But c'est la vie.

Again, Delly is just not the type of guy needed for this role, but he does have a role on the team with his hustle and defense.

I like Mo Gotti.

Look. He was suddenly put in a bigger role than he was meant to play…on the biggest stage of his career. And yet he still had his moments in the Finals.

This guy is a fine backup PG. Obviously he was going to be exposed when he became a top option in our offense. Play him 15 minutes per game and he'll succeed.
