Matthew Dellavedova

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
When push comes to shove, Delly will get minutes over Mo because of Delly's defense. This guy was such a bargain get for us.

+29 tonight.

That +29 in 19 minutes jumped out at me too. Incredible. And in a win that huge, Mo was only +1.

Mo was truly a great pickup, but his defense is always going to be an issue, especially if he's not flowing offensively. Delly's defense means he will always be a more consistent contributor. But Mo's offense is really key if KI's out. Great pairing for us.

Yea I said the same thing in the game thread. Once Kyrie gets back, it's Mo who should his minutes take the biggest hit. Delly's will go down, obviously, but he still does some things none of the other guards do. Mo's skill is almost completely overridden by Irving.

But Mo is really helpful in a lot of ways. Pair him with Lebron and Lebron won't have to handle the ball as much and won't have the burden of bringing it up and setting up the offense. He won't have to start 30 feet from the basket. Pair him with Love or even AV while Kyrie and Lebron are resting and we have a really dynamic second unit offense. Delly brings a bunch of things that Mo doesn't, but Mo solves our problem of having another ball handler who can set up the offense besides Lebron and Kyrie.

If we can actually have everyone healthy the depth on this team vs last year is like night and day. Really want to see Blatt use it and Lebron explore what others can do when he lets go of the reins a little.

You can find 20mpg for Mo and it should be done by limiting Kyrie's mpg to 30 and running small lineups when you can.

Yes, his defense is bad. But you can play him with Kyrie and you can play him with Delly. Then you put Mo on the lesser offensive guard out there.

A bit premature to say that as things will shift for everyone once Kyrie and Shump get back.

If anything, I look forward to when they can both be part of the same second unit with either JR or RJ at the 3.

Let's just be glad to have them both, as they are both very different and very key chess pieces on the board, where so much will depend on matchup, game situation, etc.

There will be so much matchup based mixing and matching. I can see times where we'll want to have Kyrie at SG and let Mo initiate the offense.

We couldn't keep it up in the second half(and had no need to) but I loved the way Mo pushed the pace fast down the court in the first half.

Also enjoyed seeing him waive off and direct LeBron on the floor a couple times in the second half.

Delly was fantastic tonight though as well and it such an exciting prospect to think of how we'll be able to keep the entire fresh for most of the second half of the season, while still having winning lineups in the game.

Delly can play with both Mo and Kyrie, but not vice versa ( atleast against quality teams). The problem is both Shumpert and Smith needs minutes, and shump can only really play shooting guard. Those 2 guys are going to take up over 90% of the available minutes at shooting guard(possibly even more). If Kyrie is playing 30 MPG, which would be a pretty significant cut; then that still only leaves 18 minutes to split between 2 guys with very little minutes available at 2 guard for mop up minutes.

You might have the best statistically based posts on the board but you have a lot to learn about calling your shot with Delly's minutes. :chuckle:

From Oct 3rd:

I just hope he realizes his ole bullshit is gonna find his ass nailed to the bench when Kyrie comes back. I'll go on record now that once we are fully healthy Delly will get more minutes than Mo.

And from May 27th:

I get the allure of having Mo on the team in case of injury, but I still want Delly getting plenty of minutes as our backup because of what his defense does for us.

Keys wins that one hands down. Everyone else is fighting for second place.

I certainly hope everyone noticed that "Keys wins that one hands down" and "dick measuring contest" have become synonymous.

It's an "old" ranking, well played at that with a May 27th grave dig. Life goes on. I have an impressive collection of old rankings.

BTW: after my wife went to bed I put my recording of the game back on, and I'm at 1:30 left in the first quarter. The Memphis announcers have a real love/hate thing going on with Delly and Varejao that is entertaining the hell out of me at the moment.

But I talked to the man as we waited to board our shared Southwest flight to Cleveland for training camp his rookie year and later waited outside the bathroom to get the autograph you see in my avatar once we landed...

Doesn't that score me some points?

:(:(:(
