Matthew Dellavedova

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
We aren't even having this conversation if one of the guys who is supposed to get a lot of shot attempts is making shots. Delly is more of a facilitator like Avery Johnson or Steve Blake. He gets the ball to others and defends. No reason to get irritated that he doesn't play like a scoring guard when that isn't his role.

I think it's fair to get on Delly's case for that 1-on-3 fast break he decided to run. But that was a little out of character.

I think he's making the kind of contributions (and more) we have wished the many guys in his role had been making over the past several years. I hope he can become a more consistent threat from the NBA 3-point line over the summer. That would help to expand his game. Considering that he's a rookie and has room to grow, the Cavs can't be anything but happy about his play this year.

The pull up floater should of been the shot. Delly lacks balance off the dribble and that's why it looked awful. That needs to improve.

That fast break was kind of understandable. When he started to push the ball he had hawes and deng running parallel. Both stopped way above the foul line (im assuming they though he was going to pull the ball back. I think he expected them to run to the corners, then he did that stupid NBA thing of picking the ball up before checking he had the pass, by the end of the first step hes looking around and realises hes stuck so he take the shot. Bit of an error of all three guys there.

Having said that, he needs to control his shot selection better, unless the coaches are in his ear to take open looks and be aggressive with dion out

Jump shot is broken. I assume the coaching staff is working with him on this?

Coaching staff working on something other than defense? LOL GOOD ONE!

Who knows if winning out the last third of the season will change things around, but Brown has the team playing defense much better lately. The offense is still an afterthought, but if you remember how the perimeter players defended last season compared to this one, development is evident.

Sometimes the best teachers aren't always the most popular teachers in the moment.

Yeah, I know, I was only joking. I've preached patience on this topic too.

It will be inexcusable, though, if Jack continues starting next to Kyrie once CJ and Dion are healthy. That is by far my biggest issue with Mike Brown right now (and yay, I turned yet another thread into a Mike Brown discussion thread!).

Turning every thread into a Mike Brown thread is nothing to brag about.

I love Delly, but does anyone else think he's starting to get a little trigger happy? I feel like he's been taking a lot more shots lately (and missing), and I think he's better just running the offense, hustling and playing solid D, which he does all of those well. I don't mind Delly taking open shots, I just think he needs to tone it down a tad.

I think it's just because Dion out. The bench really struggles to generate offense without him.

I like that he's not scared to shoot the ball. Last thing we needed last night was someone passing up wide open looks. He had some good looks from 3 land, Just didn't go in

The floater on the break with Hawes on his left side was the only play that left me scratching my head. Probably not the best decision in that situation....But it happens

And still Delly had a positive +/- (even when he is taken out on offense and pit in on defense which can skew this stat)
Kyrie and Jack had worse shooting stats on the night and some people are into the rookie.
The game was lost after half time when Kyrie and Jack took us from up by 6 to down by 15 in 8 minutes. Period !!!

Everyone seemed scared to shoot in the 2nd half. I hated them passing up those shots because it just clogged the lane even more.
