Matthew Dellavedova

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Point taken. I'm not worried about Delly. The kid's solid, and I admire his attitude. I just wish Sergey was able to get meaningful minutes, too.

I agree, I would like to see Sergey get some time too. It was the perfect situation in the last two games for him to play and I was surprised he got next to zero time.

I am not worried about his 3 point shot. He is not missing by much at all, this will turn around. The same happened in stretches at St Marys.
Everyone has been struggling lately. No one is nailing it from beyond the arc.

he's not missing much? 31.8 FG% from the 3 and a 37.4 FG% he's worst then Jack who gets more mins but he's getting a decent amount of mins. A lot of players are doing fine behind the arc

Jack 37.8%
Deng 36.5%
Kyrie 36.5% horrible compared to last 2 seasons
CJ 39.3%
Dion 36.3

Sergey and Bennett will raise their 3pt once they get more mins and actually get the ball in their hands. Both are shooting at 22% at the 3pt line. What I can say is know ones FG% has been great this year except for Zellers. It's all because the crappy offense.

I think he meant that Delly's shots haven't been off by much. He's certainly had a couple in the last few games that've been half way down and popped out, but he's also had enough near-airballs that I'm mildly concerned. Still, he has a long enough track record as a good shooter that I trust him to regress to the mean soon.

Everyone has struggled from the 3 since Dion and CJ have both been out. Delly ain't Robinson Crusoe. Positionally the disruption is causing problems for all Cavs players.
And yes I would expect that Jack, Kyrie and Deng would have better stats than the rookie earning $490k.
He has still had a much better +/- than the other guys you mentioned, so there are things he is doing well.
I remember a four game stretch for St Marys where every 3 pointer Delly shot rimmed out. The following game he shot 5 in a row. I will be very surprised if the gym rat does not doing something similar in the next two or three games.
Oh, and watch which player keeps feeding Bennett. Delly has helped him more than any other player.

Would love to go after Jimmer, need some shooting desperately. Delly is useless right now since he can't make a shot to save his life.

And you so totally cannot come up with any other way in which Delly might be superior to Jimmer, right? :chuckles:

hold up are you trying to say Delly is better then Jimmer? Don't think so and far from it. His defense isn't as good but I also don't think Delly's defense is either...it's overrated by a few here with ppl not seeing he can't guard other guards when playing 1 on 1. I'd take Jimmer over Delly any day. When Jimmer shoots that 3 it's going in at a high rate.

Delly is absolutely better than Jimmer. Delly's only average defensively, but Jimmer's among the worst defenders in the league. There's a massive gulf there, much bigger than any edge Jimmer has on offense. And defense is half the game.

I really don't mind discussing ways our Cleveland young players can improve, it's a young team still adjusting to the NBA. But when ANY Cavaliers player under 23 is being declared incapable, it's time to look in the mirror and ask why you are posting here. Are you talking with us, Cavaliers fans... or talking at us about things that you know piss us off? It's an important distinction.

Delly must like a dust filled environment since that's where the guy he's guarding regularly leaves him on the court.

Had a higher +/- than Kyrie with a rotation that made sense. Injuries to three guys who were penciled in as high vume shooters all at once limits the effectiveness of the role players. I'm left wondering why the guys who are paid to out it up more than 5× a game are struggling.

The eighty two games stats say they both are poor pg defenders, but Delly is a very good shooting guard defender, and even passable at the three. Delly's offense is ok, but he is assisted 80 percent of the time. Jimmer is very efficient offensively but is only assisted 34 percent of the time.

On stats and talent I think you take Jimmer, but on entertainment value and team intangibles, we will keep delly thank you very much...

It looks like Delly just took Jack's unwarranted playing time. You are welcome, haters.

So against the Raptors, Delly the 'overrated' defender guarded Kyle Lowry. Lowry shot 3-15 (and 0-9 beyond the arc).
Is Delly the best defender in the league ? No
Is he a thousand times better than Jimmer ? Yes.
I can't believe the expectation some people are placing on Delly. He is an undrafted rookie playing ridiculous minutes because of an absurd number of injuries. He scores 10 points (4-6) including 8 in the final quarter. Defended well, and overall he did a pretty good job.

Delly didn't guard Lowry the whole time you are trying to give him credit for something he didn't do. He defended OK but his shots going in did help late in the 4th qt. Regardless I'm not gonna go nuts after 1 good game because he had a lot of horrible ones even before team injuries. His +/- of -17 in the game shows how much scoring was going on from the other team while he was in the game and how little scoring was going on from the Cavs while he was in. Also stats don't lie Jimmer is a better player.
