Michael Kidd-Gilchrist

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Ron had a history of poor impulse control. It made him a chucker, a brawler, and almost made him a Best Buy employee.

I think MKG should be less implusive and end up being a more efficent scorer in the processes.

Gotta get that employee discount!

Paul Pierce is the ultimate example of a non-atheltic guy who plays incredibly crafty and intelligent basketball. He has terrific fundamentals, plays at his own pace, and dominates. I hate him for being a Celtic, but he has been a fantastic player his whole career and is the anti-Lebron. He's all head, guts, and heart.

Hahaha….yeah, he is a weird looking dude.

He's matured a ton as he's gotten older too. And the fact that he never really relied entirely on his athleticism in the first place has made him a very effective player for a very long time. In fact, his legacy wasn't really even anything truly special until the KG and Allen trades, well into his prime. Until then, he appeared to be a very skilled loser, much like a Zach Randolph or Sheed, who coincidentally both saw similar shifts in perception when they found their fits in terms of team and situation.

Oh and, just because it's so fun to look at...

Edit: Damn Lee, you ninja'd me before I could figure out how to get the pics to line up properly. But it really is uncanny.

Actually, this entire draft is being compared to Celtics players. Barnes and MKG are apparently Paul Pierce. Beal is Ray Allen. Davis is KG. Tony Wroten is now Rondo.

Pierce was/is deceptively athletic. Barnes is just stiff and robotic as hell. No comparison

Wroten is Rondo? Wroten is 6'5 and athletic as all hell, but not the ball handler of Rondo. I like Wroten allot, I think he pairs very well with Kyrie...that is ofcourse if he is there with the 24th pick, we dont get Beal, and dont think taking a chance on Fab Melo is worth it.

Lots of if's, but I would give him a serious look at 24.

I think Wroten is a good 24th pick as well. He's not an NBA PG, but he'd have above average handles for a combo guard type. He'd likely be better than any other SG currently on the team.

Not likely better, for sure better. He needs to improve his shooting, but he is only a freshman. He is a poor man's MKG in a SG's body.

That said, if we pick up MKG or Beal, I dont see the point of Wroten anymore. I was higher on Wroten when I was thinking our pick was around 6 or 7 and it would net us Barnes. With MKG i would love to trade up to take Ross or Doron Lamb or just sit tight and take Fab or Festus

Edit, if Quincy Miller drops, (which I think he moves up quickly), he would be perfect next to Beal and then take 2 centers in the 2nd and cross our fingers.

I said it befofe but got blasted, but if anyones got the skillset of Pierce in the draft then I think its Terrance Jones. Works out oh high/mid post a lot, faces up, gets to the bucket or pulls up, three pt range, big for an SF. Of course hes more like a homeless mans Pierce now.

He's also the ultimate example of what happens when you were poked 7 times and lived to tell the tale. Fish and him relate pretty well to each other, don't they :chuckles:.

So I currently am out in SLC for work (going to to the jazz game on saturday!). On the local radio station they had an extended Karl Malone interview yesterday and he talked extensively about how he may not have been the most skilled person, but no one worked harder, almost no one at least. He talked about how he and John Stockton used to compete at everything including who would get up earlier to go workout during the summer. John was a major motivating factor for him in those offseasons, and he is really convinced that those hours upon hours of hard work he put in made a huge difference in his career.

The reason I am saying this in this thread is because this is exactly the kind of attitude MKG could bring to the team. We all know that Tristan's ceiling is going to be mainly limited by how hard he works at everything. It seems like he has a really good head on his shoulders, along with Kyrie, but its clear that being surrounded by hard working people only helps. After hearing Malone talk so long about how important work ethic was to his success it tipped the scales between Beal/MKG in MKG's favor in my mind. If we can have three core guys (kyrie, tristan, MKG) who all set an example by getting up early and getting better everyday, we could really set ourselves up for long term success ala San Antonio. Beal might end up being the better basketball player, but I think MKG could make a greater contribution to the franchise. Additionally the attitude that MKG would bring is almost guaranteed, as opposed to basketball skills which always carry a risk of not translating/developing. MKG could make our other players better in a more literal sense, by actually making them better players in the offseason.

Anyways, thought I'd share. In my mind the Davis/MKG are now the clear 1/2 options.

Its 2 months before the draft, 1 month before the lottery selection. There is always a chance. I am making huge assumptions like you have too.

Agreed. Every year worthless players move up in the draft during the last couple months, and good players fall.

No whether or not Beal would be a player to fall is up for question, but there will certainly be a couple good players that fall.

I don't know why I didn't see this before... Shawn Marion. Both are 6-7, 230. Both are at their best getting out in transition. They both get after it on defense and attack the boards. Neither has a great looking shot (Marion's may be the most atrocious jumper I've seen in my life).

The one thing MKG has that Marion doesn't is better ball-handling. I'd say MKG is a bit better passer as well, but Marion is better than some think.

Is a lockdown defender who can guard anyone from point guards to small forwards, while also being able to get you 18-9 on offense worth the #2 pick? I absolutely think it is.
