I think he said earlier in the year that he is gonna pick up his option for next year.

I just hope that we find a role for him and utilize him. I dont think he has regressed so badly that he cant even see the court. Surely the Rockets and the Nuggets saw something in him that made them want to give more than 5 million to him.

They saw a guy that played all 82 games with the Grizz averaging about 20 minutes a game the previous year.

I think Miller knew he was basically done. Why it was difficult for him to take considerably less to come here.

I doubt he decides to take even less by retiring.

We should just expect him to be here.

Dude .. You don't go from averaging 20 mins in the NBA to next to nothing the next season without an injury. I think that he still has some gas left in the tank - But it is upto us to get something out of him - either in the regular season or in the playoffs.

If he stays he needs to be that 9th guy and we need to try and play him at least 50 games in the regular season. If blatt likes to stick with 8 guys then he needs to vary that 8th guy a lot to keep everyone fresh and at game speed, just in case we need them in the playoff run

He would be a fool not to exercise the option. No reason to leave money on the table, especially if this is the last time he will have the opportunity to make this kind of money in his life. Whether he brings anything to the team remains to be seen. Not holding my breath, though, he was given ample opportunities and showed little.

He is picking up his option and next year will probably his final year in the NBA. He has very little left in the tank. Hopefully he is player 14/15 in terms of options. Best to come to terms that best case you may get 15-20 good games out of 82 and maybe 1-2 good playoff games. He will probably be the guy that only comes in during blowouts but helps mentor younger guys. That is best case too.

Since Miller is picking up his option, is there any chance he gets traded as an expiring contract? Or is that off the table because he’s part of the “family”...

I love how everyone's "part of the family" but can't perform.....cracks me up.

Mike Miller and James Jones were brought in to help with culture and locker room and also alias with Lebron and they actually became close with Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving. Its fine to have those two on the team next year .

Agree to a point, we have no choice with Miller. Kind of feel like with Jones getting a year older we will basically have the same guy twice. Hopefully they are players 14/15 on the roster. We relied way too much on James Jones last year, I hope our bench is deeper next year.

Bench depth was just injuries. Our bench, with everyone healthy was Delly, Smith and TT with a sprinkling of minutes from vets. If we bring everyone back, our bench will be Delly, Smith, TT, AV and likely 1 more guy. That is an insanely deep team. Now, we just need keep everyone healthy.

Championship teams need guys like Miller and Jones. Veteran presences who, day in and day out, act and work like pros. People criticizing them don't see the big picture IMO. They were only forced to play because we had 3 important players get injured. They were meant more as "in case of emergency, break glass" guys.

I dont mind them on the roster, but him (JJ) and Delli should not be getting huge playoff or reg season minutes, and I really hope we get another guard to come off the bench besides Jr or Shump, which ever of them starts. Injuries are going to happen, you just hope they are not season ending. I dont thinkwe can count on Andy, so I still think adding 2 guys to the rotation is important. Also need to think James will take 10-15 games off as well and that irving will play 60-65 games coming off injury.

Both are useful, I wanted to bring both back. Miller is the cornerstone of the locker room, cant underestimate that, and if he can get healthy, can be called on in a pinch. Jones proved he is a useful vet min guy, those are becoming hard to find. He is a deadly shot, has found some defensive legs, and can play 3 positions atleast adequately.

Not sure who you can get better to fit for vet min than those 2 guys. And I feel Miller could have been used more. The very few minutes he played in the playoffs he came in and hustled, hit a couple 3's and brought some energy.

The only problem I see with Miller is that he is fat and out of shape and doesnt deserve to be in the NBA any longer other than that he is a great locker room presence.
