Mike Pettine

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'm going to the game Sunday. This time I'll take some pics and videos.

If the Browns go the college route, I'd love to see Pat Fitzgerald get a look. He'd be an "outside the box" candidate. I know he's being vetted by the headhunting firms helping NFL teams with their coaching hires. Word is he might be hard to lure away from Evanston but I think he's really bright guy.

Fitzgerald would be an interesting guy to talk to. Definitely a very good coach.

I would have to think David Shaw from Stanford is going to get some looks. He's been really successful at Stanford and has NFL playing and coaching experience. He is a Stanford alum, though, so it might be tough to pull him away from Stanford.

Pretty sure he said the opposite.

"Will there likely be some changes? If I were to stay here, it would be hard to justify keeping the staff completely together, and there likely would have to be some changes made."

Ray Farmer looks at Pettine: "Will there likely be some changes? If I were to stay here, it would be hard to justify keeping the staff completely together, and there likely would have to be some changes made."

Scheiner looks at Farmer and Pettine: "Will there likely be some changes? If I were to stay here, it would be hard to justify keeping the staff completely together, and there likely would have to be some changes made."

Haslam looks at everybody: "Will there likely be some changes? If I were to stay here, it would be hard to justify keeping the staff completely together, and there likely would have to be some changes made."

When Mike is relieved of his command today he is going to look back with tremendous regret on this blown opportunity.

He was stubborn to the end, and his obsession with petty grudges and playing favorites torpedoed any chance he ever had of being successful.

I hope his friendship with Jim O'Neil was worth losing his job over, as his refusal to hold him accountable is a large part of the reason he will be unemployed tomorrow.

So many unforced errors. It didn't have to end this way for him, but he just couldn't help himself along the way.

Agree on O'Nelil. It also didn't help Mike that the owner and GM forced a tiny alcoholic pathological liar who can't throw on him at QB.

At the same time Pettine insisted on having to have Gilbert in the top 10, which is one of the biggest busts in NFL history.

Johnny is not the reason Mike won't have a job tomorrow. It didn't help matters, but he also went out of his way to pick fights and hold grudges with managements and certain players, and that is the romper room stuff you find in High School, where Mike would unquestionably be more comfortable.

True. Gilbert was his pick too. With this defense we could have Tom Brady and still go 5-11

Should have drafted Khalil Mack...instead wind up with Justin Gilbert and Johnny Manziel. If there's anything that is more Browns, I'd like to hear it.

That craziness with Dwayne Bowe this year told us everything we needed to know about Mike. He was trotting out undrafted rooked types instead of just playing Bowe, because he was trying to prove a point to management.

That is the kind of stuff that just can't be allowed to happen with whatever new regime comes in.

wrong thread,

does Haslam have Farmer fire Pettine or does Haslam do it himself?
