Minor League Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Z-Mac has been awesome, he and Pomeranz are definitely in the battle for Minor Lg POY.

Jason Kipnis hitting .323 in May after a tough April and Lonnie Chisenhall hitting .309 after a tough April.

Adam Miller was promoted to Double A.

Lol our farm system is amazing. If we put all our top prospects up against our major league club... I bet the young guns would give them a run for their money.

Awesome to know we are loaded with pitching talent!

It's true. I mean, our 3b and mid infield is set. We have multiple big-league ready relief pitchers, a few starters (White, Pomeranz, McAllister) added to Masterson and Tomlin? Uh oh. Our major league outfield is set. So is the pen.

1b. LaPorta
2b. Kipinis
ss. ACab
3b. Chis
LF: Brant
CF: Sizemore (Zeke, and move Grady to DH)
RF: Choo
C: Santana

SP:
1. Mast
2. Tomlin
3. White
4. Pomeranz
5. MCAllister

Pen: Pestano, Perez, Sipp, Miller, Hagadone

That's a fucking good young team.

Pomeranz is a long ways off. So is Jason Knapp, but don't forget about him.

Pomeranz isn't that far off. He's pretty much on the same time table as Alex White. He'll easily be in Akron later this year, might make it to Columbus, and then he'll get a look as a call up later next year.

But Knapp is pretty far away right now.

I agree. I saw Pomeranz as a mid season callup next year. This team can be scary good if these prospects make solid transitions from the minors to the Show.

Jeanmar Gomez with his 2nd straight great start for Columbus last night, going 7 innings, allowing just 1 run on 4 hits, walking 3, and K'ing 6. He's now allowed just 3 runs over his last 2 starts, spanning 15 innings of work.

Hagadone followed him up with 2 more scoreless innings of relief, striking out 4, allowing just 1 baserunner (a walk). He's now gone 22 2/3 IP this season, allowing 21 baserunners (7 via BB), striking out 24.

For Columbus, he has now gone 6 1/3 IP, allowing 1 run on 3 hits, walking 1 & striking out 8. His dominance has continued with the promotion.

Where's Phelps? He's doing about the best right now.

I'm wondering if one of these players will be traded at the break this year?

Two questions for people with knowledge. Is Mcalister a legit MLB starting pitcher prospect, I would love a scouting report. Also, how long before we bring up Lonnie or even Cord Phleps tp replace Hannhan. Any word the tribe is losing patience with Hanahan?

Yes, McAlister is a legit starting pitching prospect- projects as a 3-4 sinkerballer type. If I was to give a ceiling, I would say Jake Westbrook. A floor, well, he could completely flame out, obviously. Throws 91-92, can touch the mid-90s but not often, big frame.

Chisenhall looks like a midseason callup. Phelps, you would think, would be up in the next couple weeks to replace Everett and platoon with Cabrera. The Tribe like Everett's attitude, though, and he has done what they have asked so far, so they are reluctant to dump him like that.

Tribe loses patience with Hannahan if his defense slips at 3B. He is still the 3rd-highest rated defensive 3B in baseball right now. On an infield that is featuring 3 subpar defenders right now, that leaves Hannahan as the club's best defensive infielder. Chisenhall still has progress to make defensively at 3B, while the uptick in hitting would be nice, I have to think the club would still take Hannahan's defense right now over the potential uptick in offense that Chisenhall would provide. I think a much more likely scenario would be a callup of Phelps, and having Phelps platoon with Cabrera and Hannahan. Hannahan's bat is really slipping, but his bat isn't why he is in the lineup anyway.

Yes. He can also spell ACab at SS as well. He's played a lot of SS in AAA. I would think Phelps would be very valuable right now in any situation. It wouldn't be like he's being called up to be the utility guy who doesn't play much as all three positions need days off from time to time... 2nd, 3rd, and SS. He might be playing almost everyday anyway. :)

Let's do this today BAT !!

Even better. You could platoon him and Kip, you could have him play 3rd and DH Chis. This team is in a great situation.

Why would you put Phelps at 3rd and DH Chis?

He's terrible at 3rd....and has played like 1-2 games there this year.
