Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Why would you put Phelps at 3rd and DH Chis?

He's terrible at 3rd....and has played like 1-2 games there this year.

I don't know. You want all three in the line up, you have to move people around.

I don't want three rookies in the lineup, personally....For me, I want Chisenhall to take over at 3rd, then have Phelps be the utility guy.

Kipnis can work on his defense in AAA, he'll get his shot next year.

I'm assuming the obvious; that Chis will have the opportunity to win out the starting 3B position next season? And that Kipnis will also have his shot at 2B? Might as well keep on going, and say Phelps with the utility role, and some of our pitchers?

This isn't asking if (we) think they SHOULD have a chance, this is asking if they actually WILL have the opportunity?

That roster is a future line up. Not this year.

Down in Columbus today, Cord Phelps went 3-6 (.316) w/ 3 more RBI (38). He's now hitting .362 w/ 13 RBI over his last 10 games.

Luis Valbuena had 2 more hits (.280) and is now hitting .316 over his last 10 ball games.

David Huff started & allowed 5 runs & 10 hits in 4 IP (4.73), getting the no decision.

Carlton Smith has started to get back on track after a rough patch. He threw 2 scoreless innings, striking out 2. He's now K'd 25 in 23 2/3 IP (walks a little high w/ 12).

Zach Putnam threw 2 more scoreless innings in relief, making it 4 straight appearances he has gone 2 IP without allowing a run. He has now allowed just 28 baserunners in 29 1/3 IP, striking out 23.

Josh Judy picked up his 7th save.

Akron won a close one, 2-1.

Tim Fedroff had 3 more hits, and is now batting .376 in 165 AB's. (.417 in his last 10).

Joseph Gardner got the start & went 8 innings, allowing 1 run on 6 hits, walking 1 & striking out 6. His ERA is at 3.46 despite allowing 59 baserunners (22 walks) in 39 IP.

Adam Miller made his Akron debut & pitched a perfect 9th to pick up the win.

Cord Phelps can't hit any better than he has the last month or so. We need to get this kid up here. If nothing else, to sub in for our guys. BTW: I didn't realize he is 24 years old.

Remember Josh Barfield? He's 29 years old now. The Phillies sent him down to their minor league team before the season started and that's where he is now. He had that real good rookie year for SD in I believe 2005 when he hit 15 HR's with 60 RBI or something like that. Then traded to the Indians and spent the next 3 years or so up and down constantly. We thought he was our 2nd baseman for years to come. The guy just couldn't make it. It's amazing how some players will start off strong but never improve and never do stick at the ML level.

Phelps will be up for the start of the Rangers series. Book it. Home series, sputtering offense, likely past worrying about Super Two status, etc, etc, makes a hell of a lot of sense. We face Harrison (L), Ogando (R), and Holland (L). Phelps, as a switch hitter, gives us that extra righty bat and hopefully some needed pop. I'd like to see him in the DH role one game (Thursday), give OCab a day off at 2B (Friday), and give Hannahan a day off at 3B (Saturday).

Phelps can't play 3rd base.. But I highly doubt he gets called up.

Pomeranz tonight 7/6:

7.0 shutout innings
3H
2BB
7K

See you in Akron, Drew...

My guess is this is his last start in the Carolina league.

Dude is a hoss. Hope he is in the majors soon enough to take advantage of the young talent we have.

ETA is June of next year IMO....He could start next season in Triple-A.

New member of the Bull Pen Mafia later this year?

TonyIPI (Tony Lastoria)
Adam Miller up to 96 MPH & flashing plus SL. If he strings together a few dominant outings together at Akron could soon be Columbus bound.

If Adam Miller has one official third of an inning in Cleveland ever, I'll consider him the most lucky man on the face of the planet.

ALS doesn't have shit on Adam Miller's missing finger.

Poor kid. His error last night allowed about 4 unearned runs and they lost. I'm sure he knows he's behind Kipnis and doesn't really have a spot with the Indians.
