Mock Draft 23 Commentary!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Hey, I am free all weekend and picks weren't coming in and my top guys got picked, so what am I to do?

That's an easy question. We stick to the rules and I'm picking for you. Next time have two or three names in mind while you are away from your volumes of draft charts.

My list is always on my laptop..

I am at work, where I don't have it lol

I offer solutions and I offer time limits. Your pick which ya' take. Enjoy the kicker.

It's just normally very difficult for me to get on before 5pm most days I am working. I got my assignment done early today, so now I am waiting til 5 to clock out lol

@Randolphkeys

I was going to pick as soon as I got home and got my laptop on. I just don't remember exactly who was next on my list and I don't have a good enough signal at work to browse the web. This site barely works lol

Again, this is just what I do: once my pick is coming close, I write down three of my top choices at that time on a sticky note and slip it on my wallet. Sometimes one or two of my top choices are gone by then, but never all three. Then PM me or just leave the pick and go back when you can to fill in more details.

I'm not a morning person, I wake up at the last second then rush to work. I don't remember to grab my breakfast half the time lol

In our mock, the Chargers took:

21. Zay Flowers
54. Sam LaPorta
85. DeMarvion Overshown
125. Nick Herbig
156. Wanya Morris

In real life, the Chargers took Quentin Johnson at 21, allowing Zay Flowers to go 22 to Baltimore. I knew a team would fall in love with Quentin Johnson's YAC ability--I still think the Chargers would've been better off with Zay. However, it's cool that these guys went 21/22 in real life and in our mock

At 54, the Chargers got Sam LaPorta, who went 34 in real life. I think his speed and pass catching ability at tight end would've played really well in that offense--but I love Tuli, who the Chargers took at that spot in real life.

At 85, both mock Chargers and real Chargers took the best pass-defending WLB available. In real life, the Chargers took Daiyan Henley. With Henley off the board in our mock, the Chargers got Demarvion Overshown, who ended up going 90 in real life, right around the same spot.

At 125, Mock Chargers got Nick Herbig, who in real life went again at right around that spot--132 to Pittsburgh. Real life Chargers took Derius Davis, and I can't say I'm a fan of that wide receiver selection.

At 156, again both mock Chargers and real life Chargers were thinking the same thing--swing tackle to add depth to the offensive line. Mock Chargers got Wanya Morris, who in real life went at 92 to KC. Real life Chargers got Jordan McFadden.

I just thought it was cool how picks 21, 85 and 156 were all the exact same type of player, just different names--and 21, 85 and 125 were all names who were taken in real life incredibly close to where we mocked them (22, 90, 132).

I enjoyed comparing the prospects true value I took both for my two teams and time limit fill ins. The position group I just couldn't get a handle on was safety. A lot of players I liked during the college season tested really poorly.

So Ji'Ayir Brown goes at the end of round 3 after poor testing, yet Brandon Joseph doesn't get drafted at all. Just a really weird year for that position but everyone who asked me to pick them someone would ask "give me the best safety a available". It was hard each time!

You still took Jartavius Martin who is my favorite nickel in the draft

And when he's playing safety in the NFL you can bump my stubborn argument that he's a corner in college and should be referred to as such.

I'm pretty sure you got him well after where he went in real life too!

Once I have time to recover from that Miami bachelor party and put down my thoughts, I'll make a draft redo thread where we can each post what we would've done for the Browns.
