This makes no sense. Kinsey is an athletic wing player who hustles and plays good defense. He doesn't have a high ceiling. He's not a "project" just because he's young. He's a good third sg/sf, and that's about it.

Almond, on the other hand, is a first round talent who can shoot lights out. He is more of a project, because he has a high ceiling. He could develop into a starting SG. Kinsey does not have that potential.

Any time you have the chance to get more talented and younger, you have to look at it. If all it takes is a first round pick to get Almond, I'm all for it. The only reason not to do it is if Danny thinks that our 09 first could be used to get a disgruntled all-star being shopped at the deadline, a la Pau Gasol.

Either way, to say we don't want Almond (a young, scoring sg) because we have Kinsey (a young, defensive sg/sf) is a pretty absurd statement.

I know some people may say this is insignificant and he won't put us over the top (cuz he definitely won't), but I find it interesting. Utah has declined their option on Almond, and it sounds like a trade is very possible: http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archi...z_wont_pick_up_almonds_option_could_deal_him/

If we could get him for just a 2nd rounder and either cash or jawad/kinsey type contract or something, I'd definitely consider it. The guy has tons of potential, as Utah fans still admit (on their RealGM boards anyway). He's also 6'6", which would be nice next to our smaller guards. He's definitely not any type of "answer" for our term right now, but if he's gonna be given away for very cheap, he may be worth looking at as a youthful wingman with potential (if we think he's likely to be better than Kinsey, or if they could both be a part of our team). He averaged 26.4 PPG his senior year at Rice in '06/'07 (3rd in the nation) and received an honorable mention for the AP All-America team. He also averaged 25.6 PPG in the D-League last year, only playing sparingly for the Jazz.

I doubt the Cavs look into it, but I'm sure a few teams are interested in him. I was about to start a new thread, but realized I could just add to this older one.

I think we still have a big enough trade exception to take him on, not sure why he hasnt stuck, makes me leary, like utah knows something we dont.

Well he's definitely a project, and currently Utah has a logjam at the wing positions. CJ Miles re-signing with them didn't help Almond's cause, who currently is definitely behind him in their depth chart. He holds future promise, but just seems like Utah was not his fit.

They do have a logjam there.... Which I find it hilarious when an RCFer says: "Hey, lets trade Wally there for AK"....

Silly Rabbit...
