Morris Claiborne Vs. Trent Richardson: pick a side

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I generally agree with your post and also wonder if we need another year of adding to the roster before getting a player like Richardson. But it should be pointed out that the 9ers and Ravens were a couple of bad special teams plays away from getting to the Super Bowl.

The idea that you must have an elite QB has been way overstated. Flacco and Smith are game managers on their good days. I don't think it's a stretch to say that Colt could be on their tier and that getting a player like Richardson (our answer to Rice and Gore) would go a long way toward stabilizing our offense.

But our D isn't on the level of the Ravens and 9ers. So the question reverts back to whether we are ready to add a RB who has a narrow window of peak performance.

The big question is this: if Trent Richardson is as good as or even better than Adrian Peterson, will the Browns have another opportunity to find a guy like Richardson in the near future?

One; the Saints used the #2 pick on Reggie Bush. How many of them drafted a CB in the top 5?

If Reggie Bush is your lone example, you're grasping.

Bottom line is you need elite talent to win a Super Bowl, no matter the position.

How about we just draft the player that we think will have the most impact on our team, rather than worrying about what past teams have done.

How many first round corners have the Steelers drafted?

2008 SB Champs:

RB Willie Parker - Undrafted.
RB Mewelde Moore - 4th rd pick by Minnesota

2005 SB Champs:

RB Willie Parker - Undrafted
RB Jerome Bettis - 1st rd pick by the Rams

Did they win because of Reggie Bush?

He's a bust.

Have you heard of Charles Woodson of the Greenbay Packers? Although they didn't draft him and he was a FA, he was picked 4th overall.

'08 Giants:
Aaron Ross: 20th overall

AFC Champs: Pats
Chad Scott: 24th overall

'09 Steelers:
None

NFC Champs Arizona:
Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie: 16th overall
'10 Saints:
Malcom Jenkins 14th overall

AFC Champs Colts:
None

'12 Giants:
Prince: 19th overall. (DNP)

Jesus this argument has grown more retarded than normal.

Does anyone legitimately think Charles Woodson is a means for drafting Morris Claiborne? Or that a lack of RB by the past five champions have an effect on not drafting TRich?

I can't imagine anything more irrelevant when discussing these two....

Just goes to show how good both these guys are, people who are against drafting them can't come up with ANYTHING they've actually done to hold against them.

Copy cat league... great HB's are found in later rounds more so then CB's.

My stance between the two right now:

Trent is the better player.

However, the difference between Trent and "JAG RB" is less than the difference between Claiborne and "JAG CB."

Trent is a bigger position of need, but should have a shorter career than Claiborne.

Trent is at a greater position of need, but that position of need is arguably the easiest position to fill in the NFL.

I'm fine with either. Trent is more exciting. Claiborne is probably a more solid piece long term.

Today I want Trent, but that's subject to change at a whim.

Trent Richardson is by far the most talented player available in this year's draft, sorry H&H you have to get the best talent regardless of position, consider the intangibles:

-doesn't fumble the ball......ever.
-catches the ball well out of the backfield
-has superior field vision
-above average blocker
-athletically gifted, allows him to compete at a high level with high intensity

Claiborne is equally as good at his position and deserving of a top 5 draft position but I have to choose Richardson because we need someone to take pressure off of McCoy right now.

While Ghost Writer's post is characteristically hyperbolic and self-contradicting...I agree with his over-arching point 100%.

What the fuck does that have to do with anything? The past 30 Super Bowl teams didn't draft a Punter, therefore don't draft a punter. You're using ruhtard retard logic - 2 completely independent items. Your fuzzy logic doesn't work this time, buddy. Maybe it works for KScott

And I'm basing it off of common fucking sense. Besides QB, name a more difficult position. Just because a team didn't draft a CB doesn't mean it isn't the most difficult position to play, lol. What are you even talking about?

Ohh, 1 more point: I am willing to bet that if the 49ers or the Steelers (nice random teams you picked, btw) did have Joe Haden & Morris Claiborne, they would be pretty fucking happy. (And for the record, Carlos Rodgers was a 1st round pick).

To put it more simply: I'm sure because the Jets drafted Revis it means their Super Bowl chances are now over. That's what you're implying...& that idiot KScott agreed with you. Good luck with that.

Basing it off common sense. Good evidence . LT and defensive line are tougher. Defensive line usually has the most first round and top 10 picks. Oh and yeah its probably not a great idea to spend a draft pick on a punter unless its 6th or 7th round :)
