NBA 2k10 My Player

I am not really big on the my player features that have been around in football games for a few years now but I am really liking the 2k10 my player option this year. Has anyone else tried it out and have any feedback?

I created a 6'3 150lb PG named Omar Little (inspired by the wire). I went through the summer league and did not get selected to an NBA team. Instead I was sent to the D league where i played 6 games then became starter. I am 15-20 games in and averaging a B team rating, 14ppg, 8apg, 4rpg, 3spg and have not been called up to the pros. My guy is only rated a 44 but seems to be getting better pretty quickly.

Has anyone else played extensively on this play mode and if so have you made it to the NBA?

FYI, if you want to give an easy boost to your overall rating, upgrade offensive awareness(mine is an 80 if i remember correctly, might be higher, and I'm a SG). That is especially important for you because offensive awareness is one of the most important stats for a PG, though it's good for basically any position. Your player is a twig though haha (150 pounds?!?). Anyway, I'd suggest you focus on the little things during games (good shot defense, good boxing out when necessary, no bad shots, few turnovers, get as many points off fastbreaks as you can, etc). Those will all boost your player grade, which is important if you want to get to the NBA.

Oddly enough, I played 5 or 6 games in the D-League before being offered a 10 day contract, but I never actually started when I was in the D-League (though I was like 3rd on the team in minutes).

I read on Operation Sports, that its a glitch in the original game, and that you shouldtn choose a team when they give you the option too. Instead, when you are on the screen where you can pick a team, go back to the Xbox dashboard and then go back into the game, and you will start the Training Camp with the team that drafted you.

Otherwise you will have 2 copies of your created player in the league and then there would be no way of getting around it.

Ha yeah I was hoping someone mentioned this so people don't get stuck with a clone. The option to choose nearly any team sure is appealing.

Anyway, after a couple D-League games I finally got my chance to shine - a 10 day contract offer from an NBA team! A team with tons of history, including multiple championships. A team that plays in an amazing city and has an amazing arena. A team that plays an uptempo style of offense, which would have tremendous benefit for my player.





The Knicks. One of the select teams I definitely did NOT want to play for, lol. Luckily it's only a 10 day contract, so I'm hoping I could "throw" the game/play badly on purpose so I get sent back down to the D-League and picked up by another team. I'm not sure if that would work though, and I don't want to get stuck in the D-League for the whole damn season.

Im on the Knicks right now in Training Camp and I love it

Im 100% sure I can take Duhons starting spot within a few weeks. he is the weakest starting PG in the league so I think I am in the perfect spot.

The one thing I hate, is how whenever I play a game with Larry Hughes on my squad, the dude jacks shots not in the offense. He single handedly brought my assists from 15 down to 7 one game

Well I made a 6'4 all around PG. He got drafted 2nd round 2nd pick by the Wizards. During the draft combine I averaged 18pt 8 rb 8 ast 1 st .08blks and 1.8 to per game, I just lite it up my last game. I dont think Im going to get any playing time on the Wizards they have Arenas/Foye/James, and they have other young players at the 2. Not really sure why I was drafted by them.

I said the same thing when I was drafted by Portland before I started over. Miller, Blake, Bayless... I was wasting my time

I love My Player. I created a 6'6" SG and was automatically in the Summer League w/ the Spurs. Then I got cut and sent to the D-League im on the Los Angeles D-Fence.

Its hard for me to get over a B in teamwork though, i always accidentely call for passes and it knocks a letter grade off. Then I start fuckin up somehow...

Hi, my 7' 235 lbs athletic center would like to have a word with you, as I was drafted 2nd round, 2nd pick by the Wizards, even though I was only slated to go in the middle of the 2nd round.

I cried that I have to play on the Wizards. So how do I delete my character on the draft combine so I can make a new one that won't get drafted by the fucking Wizards?

Dashboard > My Xbox > Scroll all the way to the right > System Settings > Memory > Hard Drive > Games > NBA 2K10 Draft Combine > Delete "Draft Combine." You should be deleting the file that is in KBs, not the game (which is in MBs).

I'm pretty sure I'm remembering the steps correctly. Having to replay the whole draft combine thing kinda sucks though.

I've just taken Leon Powes starting spot on the cavs roster and i'm getting quite into it. It's frustrating that good help rotations are punnished if the guy who covers your man lets him score. Also lebron is not very otherworldly he got totally schooled by danny granger last game.
The computer passes to you on the cut late sometimes so its a turnover and its your fault. That makes me shout at the TV. Having said that the fact that i'm shouting at the TV shows how well they have doen to make it immersive.

Yeah, I was supposed to go in the middle of the 2nd round. The Wizards always fuck things up, why would they draft a center when they have Blatche, Haywood, and Mcghee? Even if I got to choose what team I could go on, Im not sure what team I would choose.

If you are a center, id say OKC is the weakest in the league at that spot and the best possible place to get into the Starting 5.

I havent played in any teamup gaems yet, but the thing I read earlier about teamup and create player crews was that the points you earn from the games can be applied to your My Player career, though you dont get as much as the regular mode produces.

Im a PG, who'd been getting like 20 assist per game. I just recreated my guy and went through the compound again and got drafted by the Knicks in the first round. (first time I got drafted that high)

then you had to be a lottery pick right?

now that they drafted you, LEbron must be crazy not to leave for NY

I was a 6'4 scoring point guard that got picked up by the Hornets out of the D-league. I was the sixth man averaging 17 and 8 or so. We just beat the Blazers in the first round after I hit a few game winners. Then my file got corrupted and I lost it. It's gotta be a recurring glitch. Beware.

So what does being stuck with a clone do to you, cause I am already pretty damn far into it. It does seems like my stats are jacked up sometimes. Also, it played a game for me without me even doing anything, that brought down my averages.

I was playing so good in my last D-League game, then...the other team turned it over while i was pressing A (bad habit) then it said I called for a pass "excessivly" and dropped my grade from a B to a C-...

Thankfully I got it up to a B+ by the end of the game again, but damn am I mad. I coulda had an A, I hate that.
