Can I be the negative nancy and say great defense yes but a terrible offense in chicago and a over-rated offense in ATL might be the reason too or no?

I definitely believe we can beat the Warriors. But they certainly have elements that concern me. One of them is actually Bogut. What he can do defensively in the middle presents an element that the Hawks don't have and that the Bulls don't have anymore.

What are the ways to adjust to and hopefully exploit Boguts defensive presence in the middle?

For as much as the Cavs love to switch on screens, I don't understand why they don't switch on Korver instead of having a guy try to shred his way through 5 screens per possession.

why would you want to change the way we're defending Korver? Tonight he scored 10 points in the first quarter and 2 the rest of the game. Who knows if he'll even be back after what happened to his ankle tongiht.

We are actually talking about this after all that has happened. The messed up thing is we have a chance even with no Love and a messed up Irving. Next season teams are going to go insane trying to stock pile talent just to stand a chance against us.

I'm 100% confident we can beat GS. This team is locked in on defense. Memphis gave us a glimpse of what perimeter pressure can do to the splash brothers. A heavy does of JR, Shump, Delly and Lebron will slow them down. And all 3 of our guys can drain 3's and make plays. Memphis had the D but lacked the offense on the perimeter. Once Tony Allen pulled his hamstring and GS literally left him alone on offense, the series was over. Can't do that with our perimeter guys.

It depends the Warriors are the kings of just scoring you blind. If we can hold the odd game they play off with our defense it gives us a shot at beating them. However have you not seen how well they respond and dismantle teams by simply out running and working inside out. Basically this team does not have a the experience that works in our favor. They can make up with that by their bigs. If we ever needed Love more it was for the Warriors. The Hawks Bigs are SF's trapped in a centers bodies. The Warriors have Green, Bogut, Lee, and Spieghts. That is where we could fall in the finals. I hope I am wrong. and Perkins does some work we will need him in this series.

I know da dubs are the favs to win it all and haters think they'll destroy us but the way this team is playing defensively and assuming lebron won't be shut down by Barnes, draymond, or iggy my confidence is starting to rise with this current squad

I dunno. They're playing Korver tight but they are giving Teague some wide damn open looks and he isn't making them. That seems to be the game plan. Let Teague shoot from 3 ( or at least sag off enough that he has an open look..he's been hesitant to take some of them)and see what happens. That, obviously, will not work too well against Golden State.

But, that's why it's called a game plan. Meaning, new game/team = new plan. I'm sure we'll do something entirely different with the Warriors.

Bogut on GS doesn't seem to deter Lebron who has destroyed GS nearly each time he has faces them since Bogut joined them in 2012. Plus Bogut is their only rim protector and is foul prone...and can't play 40 mpg bc of the foul issue and durability concerns. Of all the teams Lebron has faced in the finals GS will be by far the easiest for Lebron to attack on defense, even easier than 2012 OKC.

I was thinking how well Thompson will match up with GS and their small ball. He can guard Green and help against all their wing players. Bogut isn't a scoring threat and will be out rebounded as well.

Well, I wouldn't count on the splash brothers being cold like Korver has been most of the playoffs. And I think we'll have to switch a lot in that match-up.

We aren't defending or game planning for those players yet. And Korver hasn't really been cold against us, we just aren't giving him many shots he is comfortable taking.

Overrated? This was a top ten offense all year and one of the deadliest three point shooting teams in the league. The Cavs have now held a 100+ ppg offense under 90 twice in a row, on the road. When are we finally going to start giving credit to the players and even more to the coaches for their defensive schemes?

Can LeBron check Steph Curry?

Is Akron's prodigal son going to lose to Akron's second baby son?

Is the 4x MVP going to lose to the newly minted MVP?

I personally think the only way to stop Steph is to swarm him with ridiculous length and size. Curry is so good he could burn both Delly and Shump.

I'm not saying those guys wouldn't make his life difficult, absolutely they would, but Steph is just too good!

He'll shoot right over them, even if they're stuck to him like glue.

As an aside, both guys (Delly and Shump) have been D'ing up like they're glued to their man.

Delly has psychologically fucked up both Derrick Rose, and now Jeff Teague. Teague is a more consistent shooter, but Delly's defense is consistent! He stays down on all the bullshit fakes, doesn't try to swat shots. Iman is one of the best guards I have seen at stripping other players. Iman has very very quick hands, and both these guys are guarding with their feet (positioning) first! Which is most impressive to me.

So back to my original thought here. LeBron's length and size might be the only thing that can disrupt Steph Curry's shooting.

Bron, get your ankles broken 10 times, get your eyes dotted by Steph several times, get embarrassed. Swallow your pride, he's young he's bound to burn us a few times, but if you can make Steph a 18ppg scorer vs a 30ppg scorer you change the dynamics of this whole series!

Klay would then feel the pressure, but Iman will have been hardened for this very moment. I don't like Klay leading that team, he's not the same as Curry with the ball in his hands. If Kyrie is back, we can win the fucking championship. I said it. The kid was made for this. The dynamics of GS being the favorites is going to be the fuel that stokes our fire. Kyrie is like Kobe, he needs that type of slight to really get his competitive nature going.

Knowledgable posters, Chris Parker, is there any chance the Cavaliers resort to the strategy of having James guard Curry straight up? Would LeBron take that magnitude of defensive challenge? This is his golden moment after all, you keep the ace of spades for this very moment right?

I'll probably get crushed for this, but Steph is the weakest MVP we've had in this league since Rose. He won due to the lack of a dominant Durant or LBJ, not because of otherwordly production. If his team finished with a worse record, the award would have went to Harden, or perhaps Westbrook. There was no clear cut option here.

Part of that reason is, while Steph is unstoppable when he's on, there are games he can absolutely be stopped. He is a rich man's Kyrie: phenomenal scorer, capable passer, but limited all-around game impact. If the shots are falling, he gets frustrated and withdraws. He's done it a dozen times this year. He is good enough to singlehandedly win a game or two, it will definitely be a hard-fought series, but I doubt there's many NBA people who would honestly put Steph on the same pedestal you'd put LeBron, especially now that LeBron has proven to everyone he was just coasting through the regular season, and when the chips are down, he's still the most dominant player in the world.

He's guarded point guards in the past. Like against Tony Parker the last few years. And Rose before that. I'm not sure they want to waste Lebron's energy running through a million screens though.
