New TV Series to watch

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Watched Episode 1 of True Detective and seriously almost fell asleep. Does it get better?

It's one of those shows that you MUST pay attention to. It's almost as if you have to re-watch, to make sure you didn't miss anything. I loved it.

Anyone looking forward to The Strain? I'm reading the first book of the trilogy right now and it's a pretty unique take on vampires. Definitely going to watch the show now.

It is on my list.

About halfway through True Detective currently. You have to be willing to really engage while watching it though.

When you get into it, it is pretty awesome.

Finished The Sopranos. I hate that feeling you get when a TV series is over and you just invested alot into it. The ending I didn't like. It is too open to interpretation. But I didn't want to see him die, so I will choose to believe that he went on to live happily with his family. The whole last season is really great though. The part where AJ tries to commit suicide was really sad. It made me tear up a little. Only part in the whole series that really made me feel any emotion though. That, and the ending, but its totally different emotion.

Did you know that Tony never wore the same outfit 2x(Excluding the robe)- In the final scene, he's wearing the same shirt that he wore when Jr shot him.

The soundtrack to that series is phenomenal. One of the things that makes it so much easier to watch the series frequently. I'll agree that the AJ suicide scene was the only time I felt strongly. It was so well acted. Robert Iler did an incredible job. The final scene was annoying, that's my only take away from an otherwise perfect series.

I actually started it, again. :chuckles: -- I find so much humor in it. (Christopher Molisanti) is easily the funniest character on the show. So many memorable lines throughout that show.

Just finished Orange Is The New Black.....any suggestions on what should be next for me??

I thought Ralph was pretty funny, even though he was a prick. AJ really turned into a douche. He was looking like a backstreet boy with his haircut and facial hair. The episode where Tony was in the coma and drifting in and out was really good. I really like how the did all the dreams in the series. The dream scenes were some of my favorites because they carried that vibe well of what a dream is actually like and how weird it is. I always secretly hoped AJ would end up joining the mob with his dad but it never really got to that point. They should do a spin off where AJ becomes the new boss (rip Gandolphini).

I liked the show overall. When people were comparing what is the best show, like to Breaking Bad and all that, that is about impossible to do. They are totally different shows (even though I think Breaking Bad was still way better). The Sopranos has a different novelty. It mostly feeds off the shock factor with like tons of dirty language, nudity, people getting murdered etc. That rape scene was very horrific and shocking. I like the fact that they gave life to so many characters. You almost knew the life story of every character on the show. There was like 20 sub plots.

There was some stuff I found to be really weird in the show. Like I literally had the exact thought like WAY before it was even close to obvious, "it would be really weird if Furio and Carmela hooked up". They might have had one interaction. Then like 5 episodes later, they started flirting or whatever. I thought that was weird. Also, the whole thing with Vito being gay I thought was really weird and unnecessary. I thought that was stupid, like just a thing to be filler and waste story. I couldn't wait for that to get over with. There were some things that didn't always fit and just seemed like filler to me. No show will be as flawless as Breaking Bad was. It was basically always on point, perfect ending. Everything meant something. In The Sopranos, people would die off and get killed all the time for no reason. There was usually a funeral every other episode. Entertaining yes, but its different.

AJ was nothing like his father, and that was the point. He was timid. He could never be part of the dirt.

Furio and Carm was a bit of an unspoken thing. You had to pay attention. The way he looked at her-- you don't need dialogue for that.

The Vito angle was just to show that everything isn't as it seems. I enjoyed it. Especially when he got caught in the gay club. :chuckles: - that was probably the funniest episode.

I wouldn't compare it to Breaking Bad. I can re-watch The Sopranos, easily. Breaking Bad - I tend to stop after season 3. (Probably because it's still rather new). The Sopranos has so much to it, that it requires more attention (at least for me). But then again, it's all about preference. It's summer and that's my Italian cooking season.

That AJ suicide attempt scene though. That is gonna be stuck in my mind. I just watched it again on youtube. It's the saddest scene I've ever witnessed.

The kid who played AJ was horrible and I believe it ruined the later seasons a bit. Also in the scene where AJ throws all that shit in the pool, a young Lady Gaga is one of the girls on the bleachers.

I feel like this will be more fast paced than the Walking Dead and maybe even better ?

Kind of hard to be worse. :chuckles:

I really liked the first Strain book. It was a really unique take on vampires and moved at a really fast pace. If the show stays close to the book, it should be really good. That was always the problem Walking Dead had...it had great source material but just said fuck it and did stupid other things instead.

I don't like scary horror so I'm probably out on The Strain. Although i really like Vampires though.

Anybody watch Suits?

Yep. I sort of lost my place where I am though, that is why I'm having trouble getting back to watching it. They just released season 3 on Amazon prime, and I checked a couple episodes in and I've already seen it. I think I might have watched it online or something. So I have no idea where I left off.

Season 4 started two weeks ago and it's getting even better. So I suggest figure out where you left off and catch up haha!
