New TV Series to watch

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
They put a complete shut down on all reviews which normally means it's crap. Which will be a shame as I need some decent trek

they had a screening and the response was overwhelmingly positive

Did anybody catch it?

Curious to know what people's thoughts were.. Will try to watch it tonight if I get a chance..

DIdn't watch it last night (was on too late on a school night to watch with my daughter). I will watch the two episodes in this week when we can work it into her homework schedule.

I've seen the first episode. Liked it. It's a bit less clinical than tng visually it's a balanced style between abrams and enterprise (rougher style but big budget) I likes it. Michael is a good character and we'll portrayed. The klingon seem well done. So far cautiously optimistic

Hmmm...

Saying "Abrams" and "Enterprise" isn't motivating me, Adam... :chuckle:

But.. okay. I'll give it a shot.

Yeah I know what you mean. I just meant there is lens flare from a binary star but it's a grubbier more functional ship

Watched the first two episodes of Star Trek, it was good enough I'm going to watch it again before episode 3, which I'm really looking forward to. I'll wait until more have seen it before posting anything else so I don't accidentally give spoilers.

Instead a little rant on CBS "All Access":

One thing I hate is how they edited it for commercials for the commercial free stream. It's streaming only, I signed up for the commercial free version because I hate commercials, yet I can clearly tell where the commercials are supposed to be. If they're pushing it for their commercial free streaming service, they should film it for commercial free, then edit a for commercial version from that. Commercial free viewing shouldn't have fade to black, then repeat the last couple of seconds afterwards.

I put "All Access" in quotes above because it's really only all access to some of the shows, others are partial access. i.e., some shows have every episode ever aired available, others just have the most recent few (so you still need to record to DVR if you aren't going to keep up with it every week.

They have classic series (like all of the other star trek series, twilight zone, taxi, cheers, etc), but have similar issues there. Some shows have every episode, while others have gaps. Taxi, one of my favorite series ever, they only have 50 of the 114 episodes, which is so strange.

Streaming versions of networks should be designed eliminate the need for subscribers to use DVRs for that network. I never DVR HBO or Showtime, I watch years old series on those channels (we're watching Boardwalk Empire now). As long as I subscribe, I can watch their library.

I'm always amazed by how networks have these vast libraries of awesome (and not so awesome) shows and make it damn near impossible for anyone to watch many of them digitally without pirating them. HBO has the right idea. You can watch basically every HBO series ever very easily and with no hassle.

At the very least, I think these digital services should offer the entire most recent season of shows, at least until those shows end up on Netflix.

Veep isn't that good
It's not that it's bad but I can't get into it the way I could with 'the thick of it'
I love everything else armando iannucci has done so it's a real shame for me

I'm aa fuck, please give me stuff to watch

Curb comes back Sunday. Really looking forward to that.

You ever watched the British classic comedies from the last decade. Father Ted, black books, it crowd, coupling, green wing, UK office, extras, peep show

They are not everyone's taste but you might find something. I guess they are on us Netflix
